Thread regarding ITT Educational Services Inc. layoffs

Post on here position and location if you were at one of the 12 non-enrolling schools prior to last Thursday please!

Post here so we can organize for action. We really need names however I'm sure that is going to be hard. I will update with a better location to mail. Please post information like position, length of service and district and if a tentative severance package was in play prior to the email announcing closing. This is big. There should be 12 locations that had legally binding packages in play.

Employees who were employed at that time were givin a legal contract outlining their retention bonus and severance.

--Why were they given this? What were the requirements?

In Wisconsin, the Green Bay campus was on suspended enrollment and closed June 2016. The Madison campus had been on suspended enrollment since October 2015 and was scheduled to close June 2017. Employees who were employed at that time were givin a legal contract outlining their retention bonus and severance. They were not paid those amounts.

My mom worked for itt As a rep. Was told in August she was being laid off for not producing the numbers needed to stay employed.she worked hard for her campus. Got all kinds of awards and certificates that she can now wipe her a-- with. It was almost like her department was evacuated for a bomb threat when they say they were laid off... Oh.. And was told to keep quiet why she didn't have a job anymore. No severance.. No two weeks with paid holidays.. Hell even her 401k was taxed heavily... Wtf itt.. U guys s---.. Where is the law suit line... Let us join and sign. FU Modany... And ur campus u still have.. Hopefully the ED will shut that Down too.

It's really tough to demand severance, since it is not legally required (unless you have paperwork or contract to the contrary). Or, if everyone was getting it & you are a women or 55+ and seemed to be singled out for some reason to not get it...that might do as well. But you can let them know you will make a lot of noise (they still have businesses to keep looking good like Webster & Benchmark) if you don't get some ---and that might move them.

Maybe a new thread should be posted and the original poster explain everything again in that. Even though there is a group doing a lawsuit with the W.A.R.N. act, is there something else we can do to try to get our severance before they liquidate? Please let us know. This is a good forum for deciding this.

I agree. No reason to allow Modany to screw employees out of their severance. There was no notice - on the contrary - just 3 weeks ago we had to watch a webcast where the little weasel assured all that even if ACICS would be taken out as an accrediting agency that it would take a long time before anything would happen - yes that is the kind of stuff this bastard spewed then. There is already a lawsuit against ITT Tech regarding the W.A.R.N. act and since the laid us off before they filed for bankruptcy, we need to establish our claims.

HQ decided last year oct to close 10-12 campus locations across the country and put the locations status to non-enrolling under the guise of a market survey being done. At the time tentative severance packages were issued to the staff and addition bonus severance was offered upon working to the anticipated closure if it came to that. My old district had two but after the district realignment I think one ended up in Ohio district. We are trying to find out if anyone has received any of these packages or if there has been any other organized response from these locations.

Most if not all were the old small market model and would have been told that HQ would do a market survey and that the possibility of moving, remaining same location or closing would be weighed. After 12-18 months they would render a decision of the market surveys.

Again we are looking for the campuses from the fall 2015 non enrolling decision and rift that occurred.

Also, no notice was given to employees about anything that was going on or that there was a possibility of closure. This is mandated by state and federal law. There is no way these guys at the top didn't know any of this was coming. All employees are owed and owed big time. We need to organize this now so that we are paid first prior to liquidation.

My campus had a couple of employees that have worked for ITT for over 30 years. We were enrolling students up until the week before the ED's actions though.

I was laid off on July 5th and got 2 weeks severance (had to sign a 11 page severance agreement). Oh...and they raided about a third of my 401k.

Why is it ok that the first layoff several weeks ago received severance package, but this mass layoff, we got nothing?

How would one know if there were severance plans in place at one of the 12 campuses? And why only 12 campuses?
