Thread regarding FMC Technologies Inc. layoffs

Edmonton layoffs?

Worked there a few years ago as a shipper: curious to know who' s still there, who was shown the door, and if the Surface Wellhead division still has a future.

My experience at Edmonton's location was bad: the base supervisor (Travis) is a hypocrite, the warehouse supervisor (Stewie) was an utter waste of space with a Napoleon complex, and the HR girl was easy on the eyes - but void of intelligence. The fab shop supervisor (Michael) was probably the only person in the place with any integrity.

I once wanted to take three hours off one or two days a week to go back to school: SK said no, and that inspired me to leave: this was at the beginning of the downturn and we had projects being cancelled left and right. Stewie was one of the very worst supervisors I ever met, and I feel bad for anyone who has to work under that sad sack of refuse.

FMC was nicknamed "F*ck My Career" by many people, and I wasted three years of my life working there.

The caring from this group is fantastic.

Found out SK is history. Ruben was so much better than he was. Not sure about that hypocritical Travis boyo tho.

i worked at fmc edm and can confirm how bad mgmt is. quitting was the best thing i ever did - cant handle the hypocrites working there. gotta love mgmt telling all during morning meetings to wear proper winter gear but having nicks head out for his countless smokes with only a jacket. or how about vj driving a forklift like a f1 vehicle without a seatbelt.

leaving fmc was great for my career. i wish all the best to an0nym0us and anyone else here who worked for fmc

"All the time"? I was looking at three hours off, once a week. Given the downturn of the oil industry at the time, and the fact that some shifts saw us breaking down crates all day...three hours wouldn't have been a huge deal.

My intention was to work toward my Bachelor degree in Science and Information Technology: that way I could work for FMC in their IT department.

There are people in the office (a former PM, for example) who took a heck of a lot more time off to get into the engineering department. I was hoping for the same consideration.

Truly you are pathetic. No one has to entertain the idea of giving you all that time to go back to school. Ridiculous. And yes--you are gone move ON!!

Dude, I was hourly, not salary - it would have cost ME to go to school. It was a risk I was willing to take. Stewie was afraid of educated people.

I'm curious to know who's still there, simply because I made some great friends there, and I'm curious to know how they're doing since the downturn of the price of oil. I know Stewie's history (huzzah!) but I'm wondering about the PMs and Travis's group of bobblehead yes men.

Dude...move on. Why are you so concerned about who's still there if you're not there anymore? And you're an entitled idiot if you got pissed for being denied a request to work 15% less time per week yet make the same amount of money. Wake up. We're better off without you.
