Hello everyone. I'm a Software engineer with 3+ years full-time work experience in industry making 110k per year in base salary as of now. I interviewed at VMware for MTS position in Palo Alto recently and I got a verbal confirmation from the recruiter for the offer. They are going to prepare the package and put down exact numbers pretty soon. My ask for base salary was 130k but not sure what the hiring manager and team have in their mind. Can you please suggest what would be an appropriate number to settle down for? My interviews went very well and team was impressed. Also what kind of grading mechanism does VMware have? I am looking to be hired at a grade higher than NCG grade now. I guess Sr. MTS is just a position title and doesn't signify which grade you are at? Can you also suggest me what's a good package to settle for w.r.t. signing bonus, annual bonus and RSUs? Thanks a lot for your help.

What did you do? What did you get?
For Sr. Aim for 200k.
Be honest w/ your salary range, please, or you'll end up seeing potential new hires asking for 2 much, and your team cant get new people to help you. Youll be stuck doing more work with the same pay, which is nowhere close to your imaginary one.
Whoa! Sr. MTS @ 200K? Are you counting also the bonus and RSUs?
Glassdoor only shows 180K as max base for Sr MTS.
Desis get 125-130K, all other negotiate well and get 160-180k.
Hiring manager, HR, everyone knows about this weakness of theirs that you won't let go of this offer and will be ready to take this offer at 130k.
Sr. MTS is also a grade and they are paid around 200k, but again if you are a Desi, you will agree at 140-160k for Sr. MTS.
Pick from your color. That's how valley is working now. Infact it's not color either, it's based on your visa status. H1? Green Card needed? Pay that looser 50K less and he will work for us as a slave.
125-130k seems reasonable. Try to negotiate to 135 or so if possible.
