Thread regarding ITT Educational Services Inc. layoffs

So June 2016 was the last graduating class.

So apparently, if you were scheduled to have your degree conferred this week...and with the school officially closed as of today...no school, no graduation...you can apply and have your loans discharged. Amazing!

If you finished your program this last week...tough news. ITT is officially closed as of today. The school no longer exists and can no longer confer degrees. In addition, due to the official rules of the ED...you've finished your program and are not eligible for a loan discharge. Your only option is to plea that you were defrauded (which makes sense) but the process can take many many months to resolve. In meantime...payments come due.

If students passed their exit exam and there pinning and graduation is this month they owe them their diploma. The Federal government needs to see they do. This is a federal crime.

Will they still receive their diplomas? What about the nursing students. God, I hope so. They have worked so hard.

Actually, students who would have graduated and received diplomas next week are doubly screwed.

According to ED "You aren't eligible for loan discharge...if you completed the coursework for ITT Tech, regardless if you actually received a diploma."
