Thread regarding Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) layoffs

The Goliath's prophecy is real!

Does the announcement on 9/2 of HPE selling its software business different than the HPE Services spin off/merger with CSC? If so... What will remain of HPE then? Just hardware, with no software IP? OMG... Is that the strategy long term? Selling boxes? I really hope they have something radical coming out of R&D soon (The Machine?), because if not, this sounds very ugly... The breakup of the Company is happening at a much faster pace than anyone would have guessed.

What the prophecy didn't say was that Granny Meg was going to fund her 2020 Presidency candidacy with the money she'll make from selling HPE in pieces. You didn't see that coming, Delvalle!

I had to laugh when I read the Goliath's article. Pretty creative... And true...

Ex-employee here (Class of 10/2014)... I'm curious... What is HPE now then? If they are getting rid of Services and Software - and they are not competing on the public cloud -, are they now purely a hardware Company, with some private cloud solutions? I saw an article yesterday in which Meg said that they are not getting out of the software business, even with that spin-off/merger. Now I am really confused, and it wouldn't surprise me if a lot of customers are as well... I bet the sales people are getting crazy trying to sell a value proposition to the customers with all these changes. If I were a customer, I would consider HPE a high risk partner at this point, and would give a lot of weight to that uncertainty as part of my quoting process.

People... Understand once and for all that the fate of this Company has been defined already, and it is to break it and sell it in pieces to either private equity firms or any other interested parties. In less than two years, HPE will not be a publicly traded company, and in less than five, it will become just a marketing brand, part of a bigger fish. That's it... That is what the "Goliath's prophecy" is all about. The link is in several posts on this site, and you can find it here... http://goo.gl/9vHSr4

Why is it so difficult for some people to accept that this is a done deal already? If you don't feel comfortable with what this probably means to you from a career and personal perspective, simply jump the ship and look for a job somewhere else. If you decide to do nothing - and stay and see what happens - that's your decision, and you'll live with it (hope that works well for you). That's it... English 101 for those that still seem to be confused with the evident....

Strategy?

I think you're being far too generous.

Something a guy wrote while ago to ridicule HPE. Don't have the link, but it should be posted somewhere around. I know several guys here in Palo Alto that use the term all the time to mock all the craziness we're going through.

What is the "Goliath's prophecy"? I've seen that mentioned on this site, but have no idea what it is...

Sorry... I'm the OP. I'm in Sales, and work remotely all the time (road warrior). Haven't had the chance to talk to my boss yet about this, but I'm sure customers will start asking, and I'm not sure what to tell them. Not all the info gets passed down to us quickly as you would think, so it's kind of embarrassing when we get questions related to things like these, and we don't have a clear "official" answer. Selling our solutions is becoming more and more challenging...
