After waiting all weekend...I think we'll have answers by tomorrow morning. Who agrees?

@1jwd - you list a bunch of opinions, and that's fine. The fact is, you are wrong across the board, yet, you are entitled to have an opinion...
-
Fraud - just ask thousands of students how they feel about this. Also, see ITT's wikipedia page and you'll see about two dozen charges from both red and blue states.
-
ITT did inform students of situation and evaluating options - you do not know what you are talking about, we lied about gainful employment, that's the fact
-
They want for profit education to go away - in it's current form, yes. The public agrees.

My husband losing his job of 12 years at Itt - I am sorry. There are hundreds of thousands of people who have tens of thousands of dollars in debt, they will never be able to pay them off. The money went to execs. That'll stop.

Socialism is already here - Social security is socialism, it's core socialism. It's good.
"clueless people jumping on the band wagon and defending this current administration "
Who's defending the administration, we're simply happy to help your husband out. Just ask politely.
Yeah. ITT is a scam. We didn't even take a final in math II. All we did was talk about the downward spiral of ITT and ate cookies.
Feel what you want about HQ not sharing info , I feel the same. Everyone has been left in the dark until hopefully tomorrow.
Something to consider, There were MANY great employees whom genuinely cared for their students, who celebrated their accomplishments and helped console them when they were upset.
Employees who helped the student , out of their own pockets, when they had no gas money.
Employees who helped a student Set up his new apartment because he had nothing.
Employees who celebrated birthdays and good news about their families.
I could go on and on about our GA location.
To many of us it is not just about losing a paycheck, it is about losing our students and not being able to say goodbye.
We are sad and broken about having to end 11 yr old friendship's with our work family.
This is devastating, please have empathy to all going through this agonizing time. Please know employees and students are going through this together and hope for the best.
I'm worried that degrees in Game Design will no longer be offered---is this really true? Not fair to drop it
An article available on the American Federation of Teachers website:

Let's get the inevitable over with regarding ITT and finish off with Devry and EDMC...my prayers go out to all students, faculty and staff on the Frontline....great job finally DOE!
Hope everyone cleaned their desks out... Locks on doors will be changed tomorrow.
For too long ITT has been run like the Soviet Union in the Cold War: secretive, backwards, and heartless. No one should be surprised that during this crisis we have heard NOTHING of substance from the top regarding anything; this radio silence shows a lack of leadership and even common courtesy. Is it any wonder we're in this mess?
Students, what did the DOE tell you? Interesting they sent email as well.
Yes, they have notified students that "some imposing" is going on. Thanks for posting. But, they did not fulfill the very specific requirement that DOE specified. Here is that ruling again:
From Aug. 25th letter from DOE to ITT
... As a further condition of maintaining its certification to participate in Title IV programs, ITT must adhere to the following requirements, effective immediately:
ITT Technical Institutes operating under the Indianapolis, IN and Spokane Valley, WA OPEIDs must provide all students with a notice disclosing the ACICS Directive and Continue Directive including the fact that ACICS accreditation standards state that the "Council determines that [the] institution is not in compliance with the Accreditation Criteria, and is unlikely to become in compliance.
They have notified their students...this is what we got. We also received an email from the DOE.
The U.S. Department of Education has recently imposed a series of new requirements and conditions on the ITT Technical Institutes, including imposing conditions on the institutions continued participation in federal student aid programs. This action follows a series of communication between ITT Tech and our accreditor, the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools.
We are evaluating the additional requirements, as well as all options available to us. We will have more information in the next several days.
In the interim, we are focusing on your needs and continuing to assist you this current academic quarter.
As always, our students remain our number one priority and we will send an update directly to your email inbox with further communication.
Regards,
ITT Technical Institute
Headquarters is protective of their rep. They will send out something tonight or early tomorrow about how awesome everybody is, how sincerely they value the students, etc, without saying anything. They will want us to pass this stuff on when reporters start asking us for comments.
Watch the stock market, watch for SEC filings tomorrow. Trading will likely be halted on news, or something like that, when a big event happens. It will be obvious if something happens.
Wednesday will be instructions on what to do next.
So far, ITT-Tech has not implied anything is negative on their end -- only that they are working on some financial stuff with DOE. ITT-Tech has not yet told students anything negative about their school -- even though one of DOE requirements for continuing eligibility for fed student aid was to inform students immediately -- as of Aug 25th -- specifically that ACICS says their school is not compliant nor will likely become compliant. This failure alone should be enough for DOE to pull the plug!
I don't think ITT-Tech ever will ever admit to any shortcomings, or accept responsibility for anything, or tell students about ACICS accreditation issue as they were required to. Executives have never acknowledged they need to change business model, or admitted any responsibility, they will not start now.
Modanny will be ready for his barbeque with all the students and their parents. Drinks not included
I doubt we will hear any big news seeing as how they gave everyone the day off tomorrow. All these people cheering for bankruptcy...pray for the students.
It will be Tuesday, they have to respond to the DOE letter by 12pm tomorrow.
They are filing bankruptcy tomorrow ..
Heck no ! It will be Wednesday ..
