Thread regarding ITT Educational Services Inc. layoffs

Hanky panky between ACICS and ITT-Tech in full swing only one year ago

May 2015 Email from Albert Gray, recently fired head of ACICS, to Shawn Crawford, ITT's VP of Regulatory Affairs, attesting to ITT's terrific financial stability.

"This letter is to confirm that ITT Technical Institutes are currently in compliance with the ACICS financial stability standards as set forth in the ACICS Accreditation Criteria, Section 3- 1-203. Please let me know if you need further information in this matter."

Letter was cc'd to 2 officials:

California Department of Veterans Affairs --which cut off all financial aid to ITT-Tech for California Vets 2 days ago -- and California Bureau of Private Postsecondary Education -- which prohibited new enrollment at California ITT-Tech a week ago.

Maybe Dept of Ed will act quickly to deal with the "ITT-Tech" problem so it can concentrate on the ACICS show down coming up next. I don't expect DOE to spend much more time negotiating with Modany and his band of thieves.

According to letter, at that time ACICS found no indication "that financial condition may be weak or deteriorating" which would have triggered increased oversight by ACICS (and alerted federal regulators?)

In December 2016, ACICS renewed accreditation for three years, for the Washington State campuses -- which together form the "Spokane Valley" ITT Tech institution. Even though by November of 2016, all the remaining chairs disappeared from my campus in Washington State as part of ITT Tech's "right-sizing" response to increasing financial troubles.

Not until publicity about ACICS began a few months ago, before hearings by DOE regarding continuign its license, did the author of these letters get the ax. Final decision by senior ED official on ACICS fate is due by Sept. 20.
