"When the PPEs changed, even librarians were held responsible for students not attending class, and/or failing. Mind boggling."
Absolutely! Also mind boggling that ACICS never took steps to detect that holding academic staff responsible was simply be used as an attempt to force the pass rate that revenue forecast required.
When the PPEs changed, even librarians were held responsible for students not attending class, and/or failing. Mind boggling.
" The idiocy was then topped with his engagement metrics for teachers, blaming the teachers when the students did not attend classes or failed classes. "
This is the kind of stuff that ACICS should have sniffed out and blocked.
Very well put.
Prior to running ITT Tech hinto the ground, Modany worked as COO for Cerebellum Software, which went bankrupt in 2002. As soon as he became CEO he introduced his idiotic "Performance Management" which held employees responsible for outcomes that they could not control. He replaced all fulltime instructors with poorly paid adjuncts. The idiocy was then topped with his engagement metrics for teachers, blaming the teachers when the students did not attend classes or failed classes. He never had any clue what academics really means, as his Accounting Degree only qualifies him as the bean counter that he is. That the Board of Directors allowed him to rescind his resignation and give himself a golden parachute speaks volumes about the way they regarded their fiduciary duties. Simple put - a bunch of pigs at the money trough enriched themselves on the backs of the students, their staff and the taxpayers. I can only hope that the SEC lawsuit strips him of all of his assets and ill gotten gains. That would be the worst punishment for him,
Live by the quarter, die by lying to the SEC over off the books liabilities, and the DOE, and the VA, and states in which you operate, plus ACICS, your students, staff, the media. Tends to catch up with you, to bad the "management team" isn't facing jail time for it.
Some of the dumb moves when it came to new campuses. I remember when they told us they were opening a campus 2 miles from one of the biggest, if not the biggest 2 year technical vocational school in the state of Texas. Who was in charge of research in all of this?
I understand having multiple campus in bigger cities, BUT don't do it to where the campuses are 10-15 minutes from each other. This set up both campuses for failure.
Seems to sum it up nicely. Modany seems have continually demonstrated his incompetence for the job yet the board managed to reappoint him after he "resigned". Absolutely astounding - and says a lot about the board's competence too.
Fairly spot on. In the process of preserving short term returns...the product became worthless.
Any Reps out there? How difficult was your job recruiting students given corperate's amazing ability to systematically destroy the reputation of the school. Remember the Rep Rally...The whole company was going down the toilet...and they were completely (actually acting unaware) there was a problem with the school's reputation. I remember at the rally asking Gene Feichtner whether it might be a good marketing move to do something about ITT Tech's "F" rating with the Better Business Bureau; as our competitors mostly had "A" ratings. He answered he wasn't even aware...and "we wouldn't work with the BBB anyway" Everything I've seen and experienced over the last 5 years with ITT....Mondany and co. deliberately drove the school into the ground.
