Thread regarding Marathon Oil Corp. layoffs

HR Needs a salary adjustment.

In the Last two years the staff count has dropped by 50% due to asset sales and staff reductions. Therefore it would seem appropriate that the head of HR should have had a significant salary adjustment.

Hopefully someone in a position influence will read this suggestion and implement this cost saving measure immediately!

Thanks for reading.

She was a stretch candidate and was inexpensive. You get what you pay for.

And - he paid big $$ for her. Are we getting what we paid for or did they just want a female officer?

It is pathetic that they allow Blue Jeans to remain at the helm after the complete and total mess she has created (regardless of commodity prices).

Blue Jeans is not an engineer and Blue Jeans does not intimidate the new production VP. Should be fun to watch. She no longer has Sult to support her ludicrious theories on leadership. She does not know the first think about leadership, inspiring others or building a team.

Jones doesn't show up to work because she is loathed.

ConocoPhillips provided a detailed plan. It wasn't due to a leak. Others do the same.

What will it take for Tillman to recognize the culture will not improve nor will the employees have trust in leadership until Jones exits to "pursue other interest".

Conoco only made employees aware because it was leaked

ConocoPhillips is planning their next layoff but made employees aware instead of secrecy.

What value are we providing shareholder? Look at our stock price.

You're absolutely right, HR should be for the "companies interest" because we are a publicly traded "CONpany". This means your next HR conversation will go something like this: "So... U vant to use ze medical benefits... U du know ve are planning ze next layoff... perhaps U would like to reconsider?"

What's wrong with HR being for the conpanies interest - last time I checked we were in fact a publicly traded conpany. Shareholder value is the point.

Not the TE engineer from EF. We have an actual HR person.

BJ is an engineer. Do you trust her?

If anyone thinks HR is on their side by being a team player with the group he/she is assigned is truly naive. HR is there for the Company's interests not the employee's.

You can't be much of an engineer if you moved to

The 'new' HR girl is at new at all. She is an EF engineer who got moved to HR the past year. She's exactly who you want in HR: someone you can't trust becuase she takes others work as her own. She fits in nicely with BJ and her leadership team.

BTW, you probably won't get the actual name, cause naming names usually gets your IP banned from this site.

I don't think she's brandnew to marathon just to us. Shes on blue jeans leadership team and worked for blue jeans. Goes to others leadership meetings and is only one so far who talks to us. My boss is acting better now too. She asks questions that makes us think she understands what we do here. Not saying she wont turn up to be crap but so far HR with a brain. I think she might be an engineer before marathon or something with engineers training. Don't want to jinx it. We need more good HR.

Usually heads of HR in oil are selected because of their diversity status (women and minoritiies who are of a protected status). Not competence. Look around at most of the oil corps heads of HR. Maybe one or two hired for competence in the function. Just sayin'...

I don't know for certain but looks to me like this site is working. Feedback going up. We got a new HR girl in for a couple months and appears to know what's up. She even visits our floor and knows how to listen. Oh and American. And has worked for an operator. I think the big one hid her till now. Maybe now my egoholic team manager will finally get the axe. All these people changes gives me hope. Blue jeans keep the good ones and get rid of the six foot performance psycho brit who is never in the office anyway, spends all the money on expat help and maybe we will listen next time you open your mouth.
