Thread regarding Enbridge Inc. layoffs

SEVERANCE details!

I want to start this by saying thank God I'll never have to start a meeting with a safety moment again in my life or do another safety obs in my life!!! Lmao. I'm sad to leave the good friends after all these years but happy to be out of the toxic environment the office has become!

Severance

2 weeks every year

Unused pto but those cheap bastards hit me for two days for Thursday and Friday.

Some calc on STIP for the year

Plus options - rsu or mrpsus prorated though. Again cheap should just give them all

Age additional amount

Position additional amount

I will miss enbridge from years ago but not the "tnew Enbridge". The sev is generous and for that I am appreciative! If you have any questions ask I'll respond on this thread since its

Cheers!

Never accept offer without employment lawyer reading it over. What would 25 yrs be? 2 weeks per year also?

Contractor from Toronto. 8 years worked. 2 weeks severance pay. If they could give me zero weeks severance pay they would.

I've attached the link to Alberta's Employment Standards code in reference to Termination of Employment:

https://work.alberta.ca/documents/Termination-of-Employment-and-Temp-Layoff.pdf

I'm sure each province and state has their own set of standards you can refer to.

Based on Part 2, Division 8 of the Employment Standards Code, Enbridge only has to pay a maximum of 8 weeks for employment of 10 years or more and much less for employment years under 10 years.

I'm not sure if you've ever had any legal representation before but they are usually the only ones that come out ahead monetary wise.

Good luck

I too was packaged out, on the face of the termination and severance proposal appears reasonable. HR rep alluded to some of the factors used to arrive at the numbers when they presented it, but nothing clearly explained or laid out on how things were calculated. Red flag. I suspect we are quite unlikely to get that due to risk of precedent for one, then all would demand it.

Talked to a lawyer, her back calcs suggest that STIP earned in 2016 is not included, even tho 80% earned YTD. Note no mention of STIP or how it is represented/not included anywhere in the letters. Feels like a TRICK on the unwary. No bridge to retirement even though I was very close. Has the appearance of being their best offer, but not sure if this is really just a first offer. Is anyone getting better info, improved offer, or any sense of whether engaging the lawyer to go after them will produce any results? I am trying to compare my options, the costs, the potential payoff, the probabilities. Love to hear your experiences and whether it is worth the time/effort/expenses/stress.

Sorry for the delay, hanging a mini celebration and lost track of time.

I heard one month for each extra. Can't be too specific don't want to break any rules prior to pay day. Also, they tell you nothing but one net number with no detail.

The company was generous though. I'm going to miss all my buds but not going to miss looking over my shoulder every day. It used to be a good Company. Maybe that's just sour grapes on my part but anyone that's been there knows what I'm talking about. No bs, safety moments and observations are a joke and most of all going to miss some really good folks. That's the way the it goes though but the big pay day is helping me feel better about it!

Whatever information I can pass to my brothers and sisters in arms let me know. Everyone's time is coming in March anyway. Good luck and respect to all.

HA! I'm not sure who the fortunate one is in this scenario...but good luck to you and thanks for clearing out some things.

Do you have some sense of what the scale for the "extra for position and age" are? Obviously every situation is different, just curious about vaguely what that means - if it's a few hundred bucks, few thousand, 10 thousand, etc.

Sorry I left off some calc for cobra too. I think a few months.

Any questions ask as I have the agreement in my hand.

I also have to say the powers at be were actually classy in that they called me and asked me to walk down to HR instead of send a minder up for me. Disappointed though they had someone take me down to lobby and walk me out of lobby. Are you serious? Thank you enbridge. You gave a lot more than you had to,

Cheers
