Thread regarding Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) layoffs

I got my transfer of employment notification letter today...my manager told me not to sign because its essentially a termination agreement.

What will signing do to me? What will NOT signing do?

I'm still not clear what this means in terms of benefits. HR (as always) has been unreachable, and the phone numbers given are worthless if they keep transferring from line to line until they hang on you. If this is how this will begin, we are in BIG trouble...

if you refuse the transfer, you are voluntarily separating.

The letter doesn't say anything at all about benefits? They should at least say they will remain the same as your Oct elections.

Recall that we had to sign employment agreement letters when we were spun off as HPE. Since they termed it as transfer, maybe they are implying it remains the same.

When they tried to ship me off to Ciber, I was shoved an offer letter with benefits information as that was not a "transfer".

What about benefits coverage? Gosh... This is so confusing...

Assuming you're part of Everett Spinco and are scheduled to move over to the new, merged company... yes, it is your new employment agreement with the new company and ending your employment with HPE. If you don't sign it, you likely don't have a job otherwise because you wouldn't have a position with the remainder of HPE. Just my $0.02. Maybe contact a lawyer.

How is this possible?
