Purchased an HP Pavilion laptop in place of the Compaq one that kept locking up (btw when I was in the return line at Costco, two separate customers approached me, asking why I am returning it? they had bought and also returned theirs due to the same issue - locked the up/couldn't use it). Also purchased an HP color printer to go with HP laptop, printer never printed in color! HP didn't offer a 1-800 help number. Emailed, called Texas help, when all said and done, I spent more on phone charges than I paid for the printer ($ 49). And still could not print color. I was so disappointed, not the HP I used to know and work for. I now only purchase Apple products.

Why can't a WFR (land off) employee comeback as a rehire once business picks back up? I had 17 years of service with HP (6 yrs in Corvallis OR IJBU - Fast Fab - IC test). Best time of my career at HP. I began to notice the manufacture (end assembly) lines disappearing in 1996, was informed they were being sent overseas. I transferred in 1997 to the Bayarea. At the peak in Corvallis there were about 10,000 employees. Now I read only about 1,200 remaining. After the last founder passed away I/We noticed the dramatic change for the worse. Profit sharing cut in half, more layers of management, poor moral. Too bad. I purchased a Compaq laptop in 2001 from Costco, the laptop work lock up several times a day. Returned it. Junk. And then Carley bought Compaq? Sad.

It is time for Meg and upper management to leave. There is no true leadership within HPE at this point. The common problem with all of the recent ceo's, they were hired external to the company. Layoffs continue to make up for lack of revenue,which drives the home the point mentioned previously; more work, same pay. Maybe Meg and her posse need to be on Undercover Boss?

A few weeks ago there were layoffs in the San Diego site, related to the office printers department

The layoffs have increased margins but sales are still wallowing. There is huge churn in the Sales and Management. The Register did an article about the latest Discover in London and it was not good.

The layoffs will keep up appearances until they can no longer cut anymore. They better find buyers fast.

It's sad to see how all the chiefs are staying but letting the Indinans go!!

The men & women who work at HPE, who barely see their family's, get paiged at all hours of day and night, sleeping in their work clothes and having no breaks for lunch, and partly live in their cars. Some never complain but take pride in representing HPE!! You have people on the other side of the world telling them where they have to be and at what time and in Austin traffic they can't make it when the outsourced people who send messages have no clue what it's like here. Our families suffer from our phones going off all hours of the night. When we are on an 8-5 day it does not end at 5, because we get a call to go out some place far.

So the REAL QUESTION IS WHO IS GOING TO CHANGE OUT AND PICK UP EQUIPMENT WHEN IT NEEDS TO BE FIXED AND WHO IS GOING TO DO IT????? Surely not the customer. I don't know what runs my system and I would not get paid to fix it!!

I'm sure Meg does not know how to do it either. Break apart a company and take away service people, NOT SMART.....I guess we can all start looking for a new computer company to supply and support us!!

HP does indeed blacklist its laid-off former employees, they can never work for HP again, it is posted right on their internal HP web site. But then when they look around for native American workers, "they just can NOT find ANYONE!". So yes, then they whine and cry to Congress, they NEED more H-1B workers, they just can't find ANYONE here in the USA! This is a clear thwarting of the will of Congress, as the as-passed words of the H-1B law's language states. It is high time that Government Almighty take a look at HP's deliberate thwarting of the will of Congress!

It's time to fight back. TRUMP SAID in tonight in Michigan!!!!! He is investigating these companies who are outsourcing jobs and making a condition of severance to train your replacement or no package. He made that statement and there is only one company I can think of he was referencing. So we need to make sure he knows the HPE plan, if we have any chance to save our jobs.

Anyone that is still hanging on at HP has serious brain damage! HP has been laying off it's American/European Workforces and sending jobs out of the country steady since 2001. Ol' Meg herself even said ALL non-revenue generating jobs in the US are to be moved off-shore. If they must have non-revenue generating jobs in the states, they will be H1B Visa workers. Vote for Hillary while you're at it...let's keep those jobs going out of the US!!! If you plan on staying at HP, you better be a Sales Rep because that's all there is left, Sales of Chinese Made crap re-branded HP...which doesn't sell that well anymore, anyway!

After 27 years I got my walking papers. No decent retirement package just a crummy severance plan - 11 years base pay and 2 days for every year above that. HPE tells me every day that I am inconsequential to them. I haven't had a raise in over 11 years yet my workload continues to increase and I'm expected to take on the jobs of the people they are WFR'ing. Evidently my job will be going to India - and if I want my severance, I'm expected to do a knowledge transfer with the person replacing me. It's the end of the American worker - especially the older ones. So much for loyalty. And what's with Hilary standing up there at the last debate talking about bringing jobs to America, yet her guest of honor is Meg Whitman, who is intent on sending as many jobs offshore as possible. Makes me ill....

wow I guess I was lucky that I was able avoid my WFR last year. I moved from ITO to A&DM though so that may have had something to do with it.

@Festus, the same thing happened to me. I was WFR'd and then I accepted a verbal offer at which point upper management got involved and derailed it.

I was at Hp for over 30 years and retired last year. My belief is that it is it is all about cost in low margin business. It is basic math. Google and facebook enjoy high margin and as such employees enjoy the benefits. Just look at the campus benefits with daycare, transportation, food etc. also no looming layoffs each month.

I was a casualty of the HPE workforce reduction. I was offered a job within HPE, but upper management got involved and now it looks like I will got get the job. It seems as though they want me gone. 9 years and it is over.

Whitman obvious sees hillary clinton may win this and she will get her FOREIGN WORKER WISH....these jobs are just temporary loses they will rehire in india, mexico, russia, and china....america...nah!

They will not die just linger much smaller than get aquired.

HP will die unless the 3-D printer has an incredible magic power and edge to save it ;-)
