Thread regarding National Oilwell Varco Inc. layoffs

How much longer?

How much longer can we sustain things here at Montrose/Dundee?

Getting mighty pissed off & bored doing absolutely nothing, learning nothing and cringing at the powers burying their heads in the sand. Just bide my time for my redundancy whenever it happens.

Agree I know , One WS manager and his two cronies based in the uk have been doing the crooked planning, plotting, lying for months so they can create opportunities for themselves elsewhere where there is work , now they closing their facility and moving to another one , seems to be the norm.

I don't think they are going to close all uk facilities they will still need service engineers to go offshore I think their numbers are going to slashed drastically in November and there will be no need for so many managers because what are they actually doing, it's hilarious they have kept their jobs this long. I can't wait for November.

Did someone say all UK facilities to close? Now it makes perfect sense of the crooked planning, plotting, lying of certain key individuals based in the UK trying to create opportunities for themselves elsewhere where there is work. Crooked lot. How is this allowed to happen?

Fortunately I was made redundant last round by the incompetently managed system, but hey ho I'm still here checking up to see if they can make yet a bigger arse off things than the previous 2. needless to say, contracting LTD is the way forward not offshore that's f---ed.

Get your ECITB safety passport (requirement for onshore refinery or nuclear facility work) register with Uk engineering, Morson, ECL, Doosan Babcock, as I said its temp but there's a fair bit of work.

Teeside biomass

Dunbar

Ineos G/mouth

Syngenta G/mouth

Rosyth

Barrow

All projects either starting or ongoing and a more worldwide just need to start networking guys. Hope this heads up helps a little.

My doctors, aunties, second uncles, vet, knows a guy who works at NOV in Houston (due to caring for his cat for several years), word on the street is that no one actually has a clue what's going on and everyone is just being left to stew at home and start making their own mind up. (And propagate absurd rumours) which are that obsurd, they might actually be true! On a serious note, good luck everyone.

To the previous remark Why is it an employees fault if someone gets made redundant obviously it was a management decision and all it probably came down to was that they didn't like you and you didn't live in the same area as them. That is life you were probably better qualified and better at your job than the service engineer who posted earlier but there's nothing you can do about it just move on and hope they all get screwed over. Good luck

JUAE6Op-1ruw - That to me is why NOV is in deep sh--, employing arrogant f---ers like you, at the expense of those who were made redundant.

Ha ha ha ha so basically they just going to score highly who they like and the rest bye bye ha ha. The electrical service engineers were split last time but amphion my group didn't have anyone made redundant obviously we are the superior electricians and I live not far from Dundee so I know I'll be fine ha ha ha x

I've heard they are now testing the electrical service guys in Montrose facility to see how much knowledge they have on various equiptment (amphion) etc so they can be graded on what they know sounds like a culling on the cards if you ask me

Last year it was November for a layoff in the office I worked in and imagine it will be the same again. But don't worry, if you are completely bored and have no work, I can't imagine your position won't be cut. Unemployment does s---, but I wouldn't want to be in your situation either and just waiting for the axe to fall. At least while I look for a new job, I can have hope that I will land at a company that doesn't have a layoff constantly looming. There are other companies out there besides NOV and oil & gas. The price of oil might not rebound for years.

Nope, quiet as hell, most of them got hit last time out, still a few left though. Whether this will prevent other departments being affected, your guess is as good as mine.

Is this real or a windup I know there's not much work but surely we can ride it out until the market picks up. Have the service engineers got plenty of work? There are a lot of them.
