FYI... as of 11/1/16, it's actually 500 now and not the 450 they said! Apparently they couldn't calculate the right amount when they announced 450?!

I'd like to know what happened to the GetGo folks?? No offense, but having one DL for 5 GETGO's is asinine!

Many of the new articles claim that they are offering many of these displaced employees jobs elsewhere when in fact they were told that they have been were not for rehire and were not to apply for any positions affiliated with Giant eagle for at least one year.

I would love to see decisions made by SVP's and HR business partners who don't have favorites and will take out the trash. Giant Eagle has lost amazing people because of horrible managers and everyone knows it but SVP wont do anything to stop them.

Giant Eagle is one of the biggest local Pittsburgh companies and they are torturing their people. This week people are forced to sit and wait to be collected and fired. It's painful. The number is 450 so try 30% Giant Eagle!

Giant Eagle is getting rid of 450 corporate employees. There are 1,200 TOTAL! That's not a 1% reduction. Giant Eagle lied and gave news false information to hide what they are doing to their people. Monday they gave 5 days to voluntarily leave. Every day they threaten or try to scare people into leaving. The latest Giant Eagle scare message was NO flexible work arrangements effectively immediately.....

It's ok...they will pay the severance and bring back the people they want with a new title! This was done during the last layoff. Basically they got a paid vacation. So many stressed out people not knowing if they have a job! You will think you are safe and they grab you as your walking out the door to let you go. No collecting your personal items! They also have loss prevention hiding around corners making everyone nervous. HR is a joke they listen but don't hear and just hope the problem will disappear.

I can confirm the 450 persons to be given voluntary severance. Would an employee still be able to get unemployment if they took the voluntary severance?

Company announcements today delivered no hope. This is likely 15-20% of its Corporate Workforce, and the CEO sent an email confirming they have no plan in place but are working on one.
