Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Possible Sign of what stores may closing soon?

Take a look at the information below. It is related to the so called holiday/shop your way event tonite. It guarantees members extra SWY points in Jan but it list certain stores that do not qualify for the the holiday guarantee. The only thing I can think of is this is because these stores may not be open after the Holiday.. I am asking for one of my friends who is a top of the line APM. He is close to a possible promotion into a zone manager position but he is worried that there may not be any stores left for him to manage? Any ideas from any of the professionals on here?

There were two stores in des moines, iowa and now there is only one. The Southside store closed august 1st so there would be no need to mention that the offer was not valid in des moines, iowa unless they were referencing the one remaining store in des moines, on the north side. I checked the polk county assessors web site for ownership info on the store, located at 4000 merle hay road, and it says it is owned by a trust. After some more digging the trust appears to have its assets (the store) pledged to the pbgc. The Southside store had always been leased, but the Northside store was always known to be owned by sears. Another thing is that the mall owners have been after sears for years to modernize the appearance of the north side store and of course sears has refused. The store looks awful compared to the other mall tenants. Jump to your own conclusion....

People, they are all closing in the next year or two and this is the best case. Let's stop predicting, prophesying, wondering or even using the magic eight ball to help us. SHC is a dying company and will close its doors for good as a retail entity in the next few years (best case). Eddie said as much in his last announcement. He said that Kmart was not going out of business but that the company would close any unprofitable stores. Just look at your metrics and EBIDTA to figure out if your store is closing.

At some point ALL stores will close. The question you have to ask yourself is do you stick it out until the end or do you look for a new job before the end. Kinda like being in Vegas betting on your future. Choose wisely!!

These stores have already been announced as closing. Eddie would never be stupid enough to tip his hand and leave evidence as to which stores he's decimating next. He wants to keep associates in the dark so we'll work our azz of during the holiday, give up Thanksgiving and Xmas Eve. Those who know ahead of time their store is closing won't be so keen on working those days. Stores already in liquidation with an announced close date are not open on Thanksgiving and do not have Black Friday sale.

The Bartlesville Oklahoma Store is closing, in December of 2016. Everyone knows that the store is closing.

Since when does Sears make a shop your way promotion and list specific stores that it is not valid it. This is very very fishy. I would hate to be an employee at any of these stores listed.

Gainesville was rumored to be closing. I think you are right that this confirms it.
