The situation in Cognizant Kolkata is pathetic. From the time you enter office till the time you leave, you are expected to be the manager's slave. If you work well and with self dignity, you are victimised. If you work well, the manager takes you as a competitor and tried to bring you down in whatever means possible. I've heard of a senior manager in Cognizant Bantala who even deleted work of associates to victimise them. If you complain to the HR, they in turn inform the manager. The result, the manager's wrath falls on you, you are given a bad rating (no matter how good you perform) and ultimately you are sacked. Such is the dirty politics. It's a pity that the higher management has no inclination to solve such issues and lets these horrible mid level managers and senior managers continue.

I have very bad experience at Kolkata location . I am not bengali and Bengali plays very dirty politics. After working very hard for 1year 8 months (I JOINED CTS IN FEB) I got my first rating that too EM.my project was in critical stage and that was about to ramp down before rating my supervisor assured me that I will get EA . I need not to think for rating just work. After this promise they have given me 2nd bucket and they gave 1st bucket to a Bengali guy. Even after complaining to hr no action as HR will not listen to you she will listen to senior management. No bone of HR .Kolkata is wrist location for cts

Totaly agree. Dont join cognizant as its really body shopping company and make you resign after 45 days on bench. HR put mails to manager saying dont take resource as we want to fire the resource.

I joined cognizant Chennai inspite of having a high offer than what cognizant offered me, on the hope that I will have a better future. But the entire scenario had been upside down in my case.

Got one unfit project and I had been kept idle for 2 months and later on work started as usual. The lead was very inexperience for her role and don't know how to manage or deligate the work.

Finally I was give then the last rating and despite of huge fight with manager and lead I was not given a proper reply. I was so down and I know I am not fit for that rating. Later on I got a job offer outside with a better package and next level role.

Left cognizant with in 1.4years. cognizant is not a place for collaboration work only competition.

Here your boss is ultimate and HR has no backbone. You need to be a complete slave of your manager to have a good growth in your career. Manager never gives a proper justification of your ratings. Rating you get is not what you deserve it is related to how you please your manager. Even no harsh steps are taken based on the surveys also.

I am working at cognizant, Chennai. I just want To convey my personal experience about appraisal.On my first year, I got first bucket and then second year second bucket since I got promotion on that year and my manger asked to my lead that how would you give everything to Him on this year as he already got promotion since cognizant promotes to associate from Pa on every quarterly but the off shore team discussion about my rating they put first for me and then it changed to second on my manger review. I informed to HR about this but they are not ready to take it ahead.

In Cognizant you have to work for the Boss and certainly not for the client. If you want to grow in Cognizant you have to have a Godfather. Only a certain coterie keeps growing. HR is totally defunct and it cannot take independent decisions. There are folks in Cognizant who are stagnant of growth. You perform You grow should be rewritten as You keep your manager happy you grow.
