I was let go a few years ago as I had issues with my manager - however, here are my two cents on the company:

  • It lacks diversity

  • it's very easy to get pigeonholed into roles

  • It's very difficult to advance (internally)

  • There are many inconsistencies in performance review (explained differently in job training than done in practice)

  • (Sometimes) there is lack of organization (including weeks of inactivity between training and first project, and between projects)

  • There are long delays in receiving laptop and needed equipment for work.

In TCS, hero worship is predominant. Have to forget one's family and personal life and completely submit to the supervisor. Means we should be a driver, a servant, a cook etc., for the supervisor. One performing the above roles well can get promotions easily, will be faring well in the performance appraisal also. It is not necessary that such people have to do any office work. Merit is becoming a question. Those who can only work cannot survive. Supervisors are empowered. I am also hearing that bribes are taken from employees to give a role in projects or for overseas positions.
