There are several on the chopping block that need to make amends with those that have gone before them. If you were flippant or nasty to someone that's gone in a previous layoff, chances are that person has some influence on a potential next job. Time to make nice.

So many monsanto folks had hubris-did not contact those thousands that were laid off. Guess what, those people are well settled and establish at other places and people remember who was there when they were low. As a rule it always pays to be kind. Even a phone call or email to say how can I help matters when someone is laid off.
