48 people that were let go in the Store Planning area, since I was one of them that was laid off. I'm not sure about the layoffs in HR. As for the "retaining top talent" in the original comment, not sure if the was being sarcastic or not, but the company did let go of some top talent (which I'm sure it was a "numbers" game) and I'm not referring just to myself.

Well said "been there" and spot on!!
I left Kohl's earlier this year, but I am sure by now I would have been let go. They are kicking out a ton of their longterm employees, and with those employees goes a ton of institutional knowledge. Probably something their number crunching geeks don't think about. If any positions are ever back-filled, usually they aren't because they like to work people to death, the replacements are young, inexperienced morons. As far as any mass layoff goes, you'll never hear about it because Kohl's MO is to let 3 or 4 people go and then wait...and then let a few more go and wait...and so on. They don't want the media to get wind of the fact that they ARE eliminating & outsourcing, or bringing in contract workers that they don't have to offer any benefits to. The overall maturity level of the company is on par with a bunch of tweeners that act like b--chy little brats. All in all, I regret wasting as many years as I did with such a thankless institution. So long, Kohl's. I hope you fall victim to a hostile takeover and all of the executives end up out the door on their snooty asses. Karma can be a real b--ch.
