I am ERP, and I was informed by Verizon that I will no longer be receiving an Intel discount on my personal phone service. Has anyone else received any such messages?
Now I'm wondering what discounts do and don't apply to Intel retirees

Why bother staying with expensive plan from Verizon or AT&T and having to worry about getting Intel discount? I've switched to much less-expensive plan with Google Fi and didn't even miss a beat while having free international data roaming.
it's a good thing i'm with AT&T. Doesn't seem like they do this sort of cross checking.

@6cuo I'm not certain, but hard to believe what you say is true. Intel is hardly the largest corporate partner with Verizon. I can't imagine Verizon doing this with even 100+ companies in the country. This would be too expensive to manage on both VZ and Intel sides, with hardly any benefits to invest in resources to do this.
Verizon submits to Intel a list of customers they are giving the employee discount to, and Intel cross references that against their employee database. It gets caught within a few months and Verizon notifies their customer that they are no longer eligible. This was my experience.
Since Intel uses Sprint for a cell provider, how would Verizon possibly know you worked for Intel?
Ask Verizon for their 'loyalty' discount, especially if you don't have a contact anymore. I did it a few months ago and turns out it's actually cheaper than the Intel discount with better features (unlimited voice and message + finite data). Even got a new iPhone upgrading old one for only $50 with 2 more yrs. (Not an issue as been with them 10 and no plans to change)
@edi you are confusing company paid cell phones and personal cell phones receiving employee discount, which is what the OP was asking (I think). Cell phone companies should not know who is in or out of the company.
Even though Intel didn't do this before (and kept paying for those long gone)... I can see them pulling a report of who had a phone they were paying for, and checking it against the list of those that left. They seem to be getting more creative with ways in which to save money so wouldn't put it past them. lol
Normally phone companies wouldn't know if you're still with the company. Unless you had only one phone for both business and personal use, and you told them that you're leaving the company?
Verizon discount is gone but AT&T honors Intel retirees. Depends if you want to switch to AT&T.
