Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

COBRA Q

how did cobra work for folks affected last time? there are reports that say "at least" 4 months were paid for.

wondering if I get coverage paid for cobra through next year so my partner does not have to get us more expensive coverage during this year's annual enrollment. I have been here 18yrs in case it matters for the severance coverage terms

More info is needed as not all packages were the same. I ERPed and I get 18 months paid COBRA +$6102 added to my SERMA account for the remaining 6 months (for 2 yrs total). I'm guessing you were ISPed if you're talking about 4 months (only because I haven't heard 4 months kicked around).

All I know is if I don't do anything at Open Enrollment time, I get the same COBRA coverage for next year that I currently have. Also note that there was a timeframe i which you needed to enroll in COBRA, it's not automatic. I think you're screwed if you missed that deadline. I'm unsure if it's passed or not but if it has't, it will be very soon.
