Thread regarding State Street Corp. layoffs

Daily Lay Off Reporting

Let's report all specific lay off action. If we see any or hear of any actual layoffs let's report it here. A co-worker, manager of junior staffer. Report it here.

State Street generally layoffs in bunches so if we learn of specific layoffs we will know that another lay off round is underway.

I'll start it off---so far no layoffs around me todays.

the company announces its 3rd quarter results next week--I think next Wednesday. I expect a ramp up in layoff announcements right after that. With any success executive management should have this years layoffs all wrapped up before thanksgiving.

We still haven't had any layoffs in my department. Does anyone have any new information? I have updated my resume already so that I am prepared in case I do lose my job this year or sometime next year. I have had a few interviews but no job offers yet. I will continue to keep interviewing and really hope that I do find another position soon.

I suggest WATCHING the rebroadcast of the emergency Town Hall meeting from a few weeks ago. At about 44 minutes into broadcast, the gentlemen on the panel was discussing the 7000 layoffs from Beacon, when he said that there could be more like 8000 and the kicker was that he then said that he actually wished there were going to be more. I kid you not that is what he said. I am sure that was exactly what the employees attending this emergency meeting wanted to hear when moral is already at rock bottom.

That would be "You are" or "You're", but what do I know I am a dumb--s.

Is it possible they let you go because of your barely middle school grammar?

TO (That may be the dumbest)

Your the dumb--s SST does its best to avoid unflattering media news. I was there 35yr before I was laid off. And over the last 10 years this is how SST did it, but they could not avoid the employee grapevine

Not an easy process for telling a worker they are laid off? For most companies perhaps that's true but for State Street they have turned the process into a science. Very precise! How else will they be able to lay off 7000 hardworking Americans in the next 3-4 years.

That may be the dumbest comment I have ever read. You do realize it'a not an easy process to tell an employee they lost their job right? They need to meet with HR, go over their severance package and options. It's a delicate process that's not rushed.

It's not meant to be stealth, it's done so the employee being laid off isn't embarrassed.

Do you expect State Street to grab 20 people at a time and just hand them a folder and say good luck?

In the past State Street would try and do stealth layoffs which involved laying off a few people at a time, trying to avoid detection by other departments.

It was the old lay off maybe 2 or 3 people in this dept and that dept trying to avoid suspicion among the workers.

It never worked once it happened people would call and check with their friends in other depts
