Is that the 'what would you say you do around here exactly?' guy or 'yeah if you could go ahead and .. ' guy?
At this point in a huge company's life, headcount is viewed as an expense, not asset. All this about SSL4s etc is just a way to put a score next to every employee. Bain or McKinsey probably set up a dashboard for HP and BK. Plug in your criteria ex. >10 years of service, white, male, one meets expectations rating ... and the system tells Brian how many people were caught by those criteria and the net savings.
No time or interest in looking at 12000 names and judging each. It's a sweatshop and you're just the millworker.
I am so glad I escaped with cash and my dignity. Intel will never be the same and those inside need to remember, their headcount is an expense. Judge everything by whether you're learning a marketable skill and find another job.
