Thread regarding National Oilwell Varco Inc. layoffs

And...

NOV has shown little character by laying off several knowledgeable, hard-working, committed employees without a thank you.

You might say, "That is the nature of the business." To date, NOV does not have criteria it uses to lay off employees.

Those employees have families to take care of, which NOV showed little regard for. I can say for certain that quite a few employees who remain at the Eldridge facility are friends of management. If these employees earned the right to be there, great!

However, many of them are there because of who they know...not what they know. Now, talk to me another day about character.

heard Clay is roaming the Middle East these days. Hope he takes a good look at the disaster his corporate guys are creating not just the unrealistic travel, accommodation and entertainment costs but the recent hiring and firing practices. the place is a shambles MR CEO. all agendas are personal ones. look deep, not the surface they show you.if your legal fees are steep now, watch out during the coming months.

As long as self centered people like Clay W. And company are in charge, nothing will ever change. People like Keith Phillips will always be on top, or behind some big shot to cover his a--. They are all selfish, self centered, arrogant, narcissistic bastards. Even if NOV was to get bought out they will still win. They will never realize, or admit that the reason they are all there is because of the hard workers on the floor, on up the chain that made it all come together. In the end, they will all get what's coming......

NOV is Ace at laying off the defenceless small man too. The small mans monthly wage equals two nights stay in a luxury hotel for the big shot corporate guy. They just lay you off if they don't like your face , the color of your skin or not a friend or family member or you have no grandfather!

It's called "incompetence." A lot of people in high places have no clue as to what they are doing, including government. Incompetence is everywhere. NOV is just at the bottom of the pile.

That my friend is why NOV shows blatant disregard for Employment Law, and for their Employees. Nepotism at its best!

That's life if you can't beat them then join them. Get yourself in a position of power then you won't have to put up with it you will be making the decisions. If that's not remotely conceivable then get use to it every company will do exactly the same it's wrong but it's life.

This post is true and I saw this at Eldridge. However its common for managers to make political decisions which help their careers even if those decisions hurt the company. If it comes down to a choice between a very talented employee or the useless relative of one of upper management well unfortunately the relative wins. There is a lot of nepotism at NOV and they will take care of their own over you. Is it right? No. Is it good for the company? No. But if you were in their shoes you would do the same thing.
