Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

2017 Focal is coming and this years L4/L5 or IR, another 4-5% of you or your co-workers is going gone ! Is it going to be you, be prepared!

BK has said it, intel has always done performance management, and now with the silent layoffs of 2015 and the public layoffs of 2016 where IRs, L4/L5 were all kicked to the door regardless of tenure or situation.. 2017 is sure to be fun at focal with all IR/L4 and L5 likely going to get the boot.

You aren't safe unless you are promoted, got O/E and or L1/L2 stock, that leaves a lot of you on the bubble, get ready for it!

Better be ready, look around in every group of 20 people one person will be gone by spring, who is it, will it be you. Are you ready.... do you have a plan, if not better get one!

For sure the easiest 5% cut is this years IR, L4 and L5. If you are going to continue to cut cut the bottom. They will all go this year, much easier than reaching back a few years for marginal performers as their managers have changed and the people likely migrated to new jobs.

Nope, this year L4, L5, and IR are going to get cut, LOL

@dzq

Yes, almost everyone knows about SSL4/SSL5 by now, but it doesn't matter if they force a distribution (which they always do). If anything, it could be worse, depending on whether your manager likes you or not. It's dead simple to get SSL4 through HR review unless you're "diverse", so better start kissing up now...

@1lnw -- they wouldn't have been scooped if their SL4/SL5s were in 2013 and 2014. To scoop more they could just say two SL4/SL5s in the last 6 or 7 years. And/Or four SL3s or worse in the last five years. The possibilities are endless, and many of them can be done where your 2017 results won't save you!

@1slr - Those would have been scooped up by the 2015 silent layoffs. But yes, I agree they probably have all sorts of sneaky tricks up their sleeves.

They could do all sorts of sneaky reach-backs to meet their "numbers". Example -- two SL4/SL5s in the last 5 years. This protects RCGs/NCGs and tags SL4/SL5s even if they aren't recent (meaning you can't do anything about it).

Re: Whatever happened to the new Quarterly pass/fail focal process? I

They're going to rename it from pass/fail to pass/ISP @1qrn

Whatever happened to the new Quarterly pass/fail focal process? Is it still going to roll out? Next year? That would definitely give HR another swiss knife in their toolbox for additional layoffs with questionable criteria.

"HR will have to make up some new sneaky method, which could take a while. " I'm sure their last sneaky techniques took years to devise, LMFAO!

@JI3Umza-dzq you bring up the managers devious dilemma don't you

The last play in 2015 was 2/3 below average stock and you were gone

In 2016 since they played the 2/3 they had to go to L4/L5 or IR and you were gone, doesn't leave much left for the next round.

So do managers do focal fairly or try and peanut butter their L4/L5 stock and compensate with money.. Take a good person that got an O/E and L1/L2 one year and because you think they will be "safe" give them a L4 this year and give an equally underserving L2/L1 to a below average to protect them. What a mess BK and Murthy put into the focal for 2017, LOL.

Thus either BK and the managers step up and do bean counting and say TMG is competitive compared to TSMC/Samsung/Micron and they need to lose 20K and do similar waterfalled down to the VPs / GMs with too many people. Since they were too weak to do it the last two times I doubt they will do it this time as stock is setting pretty, demand seems up and all is peachy on the surface, LOL.

No they will like look to continue to purge based on performance. It would be hard to argue they use the VSP criteria over the 2017 focal which will force managers to identify their IR, L4/L5 people, people they feel just aren't an IR but deserve less stock as future prospects is slow or low and show them all the door. BK said it himself that "we always have done performance management" now that is just going to conclude with a visit by HR and shown the door with 6 weeks of pay and 6 months of Cobra health.

Lots of people better get their resume ready, and networking going as the days of golden parachutes are over as he and the many emails from the VSP have indicated. And in the words of BK " why do I have to pay people to leave! "

Don't forget that since everybody in 2016 that had L4 or lower were gone so that means to balance the distribution there will be many people relegated from ssl3 down to ssl4. By definition, they will be gone. And who knows if there will be another clause inserted that if you have three SSL3s in a row that it may also mean doom. Have to wait and see. It is safe to say anyone with SSL3 last time or several years in a row needs to be worried.

No, dude, you missed the point here, the only point of the L4/5 business was that managers didn't know it. Once used, it loses the edge, managers now will be very careful to spread out their budget, because no one wants to lose any more people.

HR will have to make up some new sneaky method, which could take a while.

Either way, I don't see the point in this repetitive disinformative rant, unless you're just trolling.
