New jobs

Anyone had any luck with finding a new job yet? Seems like a lot of the staff at my campus are struggling to find something... myself included.

Anyone crazy enough to get a job at another for-profit is F---ING insane! What, didn't like the taste of the previous Kool-Aid? Idiots.

I have been struggling to find employment. I am very educated with one of my Masters from USC. I am also 60 years old and not really to retire.

The poster has a point. I've never known a successful rep to stay more than five years without becoming a sociopathic, backstabbing terror. 16, eh? Really ? What are you trying to say. Anyway, some of us did our job the right way and we stayed because we enjoyed our work. I lost count of all the young p--p stains that just couldn't do the job. Weak pathetic 25-30 somethings that wanted an easy pay check.

Yep. Going by the ITT book is automatically shady.

I started this week at the Art Institute. I was really hesitant about another for-profit, but it is seriously such a different world. Everyone there seems happy, there is ample equipment, the students are creatively engaged, and I get to collect cookbooks and great movies in my library. ITT collapsing forced me to make a move I should have made years ago. Keep looking, guys. Better days are ahead.

No "pain point" new job, money in the bank and life is great you little troll. I had a pension before I started working at ITT so always prepared for the mismanagement of the company. Again, go enjoy your pathetic little life. One last thing, there are bad apples in every basket, so make sure when you look in the mirror, you truly can say you weren't one of them. I know after 16 + years I wasn't.

Did I hit a pain point, rep?

I don't have any "buddies" grow up and put you big boy pants on. You are most likely a sad little person that blames everyone around you for your failures. Have a great day buddy

"as a rep I did my job by the book and didn't ever go into a gray zone."

When "the book" was written by predatory marketers, then yeah. You might have lived in the gray zone, buddy.

I moved twice for this company and had to pay out of pocket fir moving cost.

.......WHY???? That's ridiculous.....large companies move and pay for relocation of employees all the time. Tell them if they won't pay, you won't go.

I love how Reps And Dors are always made out to be the evil doers. Every department across the nation most likely had their bad apples. HQ WOULD be the main source of evil and as a rep I did my job by the book and didn't ever go into a gray zone. I wouldn't cast stones if I were you.

Do not "delete ITT from resume." Almost every reputable employer will ask you to submit your complete employment history, often reminding you not to leave any gaps or overlook anything from your employment history. There were plenty of people at ITT Tech who did good work, despite the atrocities committed by the senior leadership and some unscrupulous DORs and reps. Hold your head high and do not lie about your previous employment, unless you want to be dismissed in your first two weeks of your new job when HR discovers you've lied on your application.

If people are not asking serious questions about ITT, then the person doing the interview is not well informed. There should be a movie or documentary made about the social damage done by this company.

I've only been on 4 interviews but I've gotten 3 really good offers, didn't even have to take ITT off my resume. I've decided to accept an offer from a large community college in my area. Most of my co-workers have found employment too. There were actually representatives from other schools that came to our campus looking to hire our employees when news of the collapse broke. So don't give up, there are companies out there that will give us a chance.

"I have been interviewing and not once have I had to apologize for working at ITT. "

I wouldn't turn somebody down purely on having worked at ITT but I sure would ask questions to determine how they viewed the situation there. Not interested in anybody who thinks ITT did nothing wrong.

I applied for several hundred jobs. 5 job interviews, 1, second job interview, and several hundred rejection letters. I feel that this company screws me over. I moved twice for this company and had to pay out of pocket fir moving cost.

Yes, I am interviewing with different colleges, looking for the right offer. Life continue, move on. Many of us experienced a very sad situation in moments of health issues, but still here and looking forward to the next challenge

If you are interviewing with a real college don't try to tell them that ITT didn't deserve to die and that it is all DoE's fault. That would mark you as part of the problem.

I went on indeed.com hand got multiple hits in less than an hour. 17 yrs with itt as one of those horrible reps. No time for unemployment or government cheese. Move on folks, I'm loving my new freedom

I have been interviewing and not once have I had to apologize for working at ITT. I was with the company almost 15 years and the places I am interviewing with have been great about it. They said they saw the amount of time I worked at ITT as a plus showing dedication, loyalty and that I wanted to see the students and the campus succeed.

Several of the places I am interviewing with are large non-profit and public Universities.

Has any of you tried flipping burgers or wrapping burritos? I think most of the alumni that went to one of these for-profit schools ended up there or worst.

What campus location? "Where there is a will there will always be away!" Just remember that! It's not easy, but nothing in life is easy... Rule #1 Stop living in the past Rule #2 Be persistent Rule #3 Be open to opportunities outside the for profit sector and market yourself as such Rule #4 Believe in your acquired experience, don't belittle it.... I could go on and one...just no time to write....
