Thread regarding ITT Educational Services Inc. layoffs

Anyone from Corinthian here?

How did the things play out for you? I wander if we'll follow the same path, so having some background would help. Post if you know.

Why ask about CCi...this is not the same situation. When the DOE came down on CCI they gave them 6 months to find a buyer for their schools or come up with a teach out plan. The letter I read from the DOE is giving them 30 days to come up with a teach out plan. The big difference is that Everest University (Not the Institutes or Colleges) participated in the standardized course numbering system in the state of Florida that made their ACICS credits transferable to any school that also participated if similar course was offered. All Community Colleges and State Universities in Florida has to accept their transfer credits due to their participation in the SCNS in Florida. This is a far cry from ITT Tech whose disclosure reads it is "highly unlikely that any credits earned at this ITT Tech will transfer anywhere other than another ITT Tech" Long story short...a huge portion of CCi's student had options available to them that would mitigate the losses by the DOE. ITT Tech does not have such luxury at this time with ACICS about to loose its power and those are the only schools that would even consider ITT Techs credits in the past.

Any ideas on what folks got paid if they were asked to stay on? What departments stayed?

Corinthian's online division survived, though sold to a different company, and is still running. See Zenith Education, Everest University. Most ground campuses closed slowly over the course of several months, unless they could be sold. Most staff laid off without severance, though many of the online folks are still working.

No severance at all. DOE would not allow. Start looking NOW!

I was there. No severance. Sounds exactly the same. Expect the end very soon...by Friday. I'm sure they art trying to sell off any parts but doubt anyone would want it (like Corinthain).
