The Tech Center Layoffs

The Tech Center let over 150 people go on Friday the 26th, no news coverage, just the way Cat likes it. No contractors were let go. A manager was said to have responded that they want to keep their flexible work force for future layoffs now.

They are closing a plant in Texas that makes room and pillar mining machines... divestiture. Typical Cat, buy high and dump low.

I bet Kumatsu will be much smarter with their purchase of Joy Global.

The CEO of this company should have been let go a long time ago.

What group is CSS? Maybe we should all work there. What a tool that guy...im in bldg AC in Mossville and there were LOTS OF PEOPLE FIRED agency and permanent employees.

It is several times more than 150. It is real. People I know, people close to me.

I saw a list of names for layoff on 8-29 that included ~30 engineers, 15 of which I worked directly with at some point, 3 of which were former SG25-26 bosses of mine. Even heard of a couple of SG 28-30 managers "encouraged" to retire.

Guys I am not with a Tech Center but if you want to establish this site as a credible source of info for freaked out workers in all CAT groups we should be supporting claims with relevant details.

I know it's hard due to privacy issues, but just wanted to let you know how I see this. I am in CSS and there is nothing happening on my side.

i can verify layoffs too. seems a lot more than 150.
