Thread regarding ITT Educational Services Inc. layoffs

Notice must be provided to students immediately (Aug. 25th letter from DOE to ITT)

... As a further condition of maintaining its certification to participate in Title IV programs, ITT must adhere to the following requirements, effective immediately:

ITT Technical Institutes operating under the Indianapolis, IN and Spokane Valley, WA OPEIDs must provide all students with a notice disclosing the ACICS Directive and Continue Directive including the fact that ACICS accreditation standards state that the "Council determines that [the] institution is not in compliance with the Accreditation Criteria, and is unlikely to become in compliance."

Don't forget there are some schools in states that still have classes this week. Finals this week.

There are at least a few locations that have not had Friday classes in a while due to scheduling. They kept on with saturdays. This may be why he said that

@gnc

Well thanks for showing up for the students. Like I say...there are good people that toil in the trenches for the sake of the students. However...we'll see if your paycheck shows up next week, as there are no admin left to process the paperwork (I guess their bubble broke).

" My local campus was basically abandoned as of Friday. Unlocked...you could wander around anywhere but nobody was home. "

What?? What campus is this? I don't believe you! I call BS! Maybe the admin and reps were gone, but academics were still there I bet! Maybe you don't have a clue what happens outside your admin bubble.

At my campus, classes were in session for final exams last Friday and Saturday. Make-up exams today, tomorrow. Academics doesn't just walk out on students!

To "I'm a current student"

It really depends on your campus and what staff decides to show up. Employees got notice not to show up at campus either Friday, Saturday, or today...and there would be an announcement tomorrow. My local campus was basically abandoned as of Friday. Unlocked...you could wander around anywhere but nobody was home. My guess is that students won't even get to complete summer quarter...which was scheduled to finish at the end of this week.

"I'm sure students all know by now."

The question is, WHAT do they know? Have they got information in Official notice from ITT-Tech? Or are they following the same rumors as you and me? Do any students read the ESI website and SEC filings? Has management given them links to DOE blog, the blog entry designed specifically to inform ITT-Tech students?

I am adjunct faculty with contract through Sept. 4. I have not yet received a single email to my ITT-Tech email account with any information whatsoever, from local or corporate management.

As of last Friday night, when I gave a final exam, there was no indication from any of my students that they had any clue whatsoever that these events had hit the news on Thursday.

Friday night I had a weird conversation with my campus director, who I have know for years, about plans for summer break. I was literally starting at him, bug-eyed, waiting for him to crack and say "Oh Holy F_ck what's going down!" or something dramatic. But he never said a word. He's a deep drinker of the Kool Aid.

I'm sure students all know by now. What is going on? Are students showing up for their classes? What is being said to the staff (though they probably saw it coming). The ESI investor website (ittesi.com) says nothing at all, the last post is about "dress for success", so maybe there is no problem.
