Thread regarding Zenith Education Group layoffs

Why are you guys still at Everest?

I was let go from admissions 3 years ago because our branch was struggling and letting people go. Everest was my first "real job" out of college, and it was a good way to make decent money as a 21 year old.

Being let go was the BEST thing that ever happened to me. I now work at a top 20 university, make better money, have better benefits, work with an administration that cares about students and don't have to deal with the BS of micro-management and unprofessional behavior I saw at Everest.

For those left...why? You know this has been a sinking ship. The longer you stay the worse it will look on your resume, and the less likely it will be that you can wash the Corinthian stench off of you.

It doesn't look bad on your resume - people outside of the industry know very little about it - the rights or wrongs.

As a former employee - I can only say that while I personally believed that the cost of education was not worth the money, I did not lie about the costs, loans, repayments or length of time it would take to repay. I was very upfront with students. If you go to a car dealership and buy an old wreck - who is to blame - the buyer or seller? If you buy a product and don't ask questions - who is to blame? I acted with integrity and encouraged students to check NSLDS every term - most didn't want to know.

I have to say congratulations! It sounds like you are doing great! Remember, people stay at a company for various reasons. I believe you have experienced one of the worst corporate behaviors in the beginning of your career. You now know the difference early on.

I, too, ended up much better.

The people working at Zenith who are ripping off the underprivileged and veterans deserve to carry the stench of Zenith as well as CCi. How do you sleep at night!

I can only answer for myself. I'm adjunct faculty, and this isn't my full-time "career" job, nor where I get my family's benefits. This is a side gig for extra disposable $. If this dries up, oh well; but it's relatively easy work for extra play $ for my family.

Full-time employees I'm sure have a different experience or reason for staying, I'm sure.
