Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Go

It's just downright painful to go to work these days. The waiting is really dragging everybody down. Any so called efficiency is more than shot now. Nobody's smiling, nobody's enthused, nobody cares, nobody knows if they will have a job tomorrow. Very depressing. Just get it over with, would you please? I think I'll call in sick tomorrow.

My workplace were laying people off everyday for a year. Worst mistake was to think I could ride it out, by month 8 I got hit.

I should have updated my resume, finally complete getting my professional Credentials, and look for work. Waiting it out is painful, you just hope the weekend comes, cuz you know you are safe for the next 2 days.

I know the pain, they say it'll be some single digit percentage who are affected, which phsycologically tricks you to think only 1 in 20 workers will be affected.

If you are in the Bay Area, the market is so good it's not even funny... Even if you are at the end of your career, you should have NO PROBLEMS whatsover finding an equivalent gig... It's not easy, the uncertainty causes anxiety, but trust me, if you worked for Cisco, you will find a better position in a month

If you have been there more than 7-8 years, its too tough to even prepare a the resume forget about getting mentally prepared for the interview. I would suggest its not yet too late. Get out of comfort zone.
