Thread regarding Boeing Co. layoffs

I come from a Boeing family...

After being an electrician on the 787 program for over 5 years, I decided to make the jump to engineering. Now, less than a year later, I'm just waiting to hear that I'm gone. No bounce back rights either. Pro Union? Not if you go from one union to the other. Oh, and what about the tax breaks for keeping jobs here? What about all of us who gave up our pensions (even though I've voted NO every single contract).

Oh, but McDirty, I mean McNerney keeps his 4 million a year pension!!!! Kiss my a--. OFFER THE VOLUNTARY LAYOFF TO EVERYONE. You don't need to accept everyone, but it will help some of us who planned on STAYING FOR 20 YEARS LONGER a chance to do so....plus those people who want the VLO and didn't get it are leaving in a few years anyhow..so you lose them and have to rehire and retrain again. I could go on and on...DUH....but whatever.

OH and one last thing....BOEING KNEW when they took me into Engineering that they would be letting me go later...they have it all on flow charts...so why bring us aboard? Oh wait, it was to help dig their asses out of trouble faster, then to be tossed aside. If it doesn't happen, I'll take it all back...but I won't be eating crow on this one...it will be top ramen hahaha.

By the way, I come from a Boeing family, mother, brother, woman, sister in law, brother in law, etc all work here for many many years. I believe in the company and love what I do and have never given in to badmouthing....but this leaves a bad taste in my mouth, so I figured I should SPIT IT OUT.

I am a retired Boeing employee who sadly saw he minnow eat the whale. (after acquisition of McDonnell Douglas in '96, there executive team lead by Harry Stonecipher, took over all major decisions of the New Boeing Company)..Throughout the turn of the century, Boeings attitude and vision is global with only Commercial Aircraft Manufacturing in the PNW....
