Thread regarding Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) layoffs

When Meg Whitman Starts Calling Customers....You can bet

The ship is going down.

I've worked for many sales organizations in many companies, start-ups and big name companies, and when enterprise sales is in trouble (i.e. not enough money coming in), there are certain steps all companies take to (1) bring bottom line up in the immediate quarter so that (2) the company or that portion of the company has a better balance sheet for the subsequent sale.

1, It starts with a moratorium on spending: Travel, supplies, training and other events cancelled (check, done)

  1. Then, senior leaders are brought in to work to "close deals" , using their supposed influence as movers and shakers and golf buddies and etc. to work with their peers at companies where there are pending deals or hopeful deals to make the sale. Check - this is underway.

If you work for HPE, you should be actively engaging in job search activities.

CEOs call customers all the time. I was on a $4M project for Accenture when their CEO called the client CFO to help us sell consulting work.

Our Q3 EG Servers shipments in EMEA were pretty dissapointing (even after several FLASH revisions). When compared against ASPIRE, the numbers weren't even 30% of it... I can easily see Meg being more involved now...
