I was a driver at the La Mirada location, the last year before the axe dropped on us was terrible, overworked, under appreciated. The demand for us hitting our numbers were high and the pressure was visible on the supervisors and on management. We all felt the pressure daily, but after months of killing our selfs for making our location profitable we still got the axe, which shows that no matter how well we did we were going to be shut down regardless.

STAPLES is a horrible company to work for, it was a good run while it lasted but now it's time to move on. Now I'm in the medical field and after hearing about my extensive experience with office supplies I'm now in charge of ordering all office supplies for my department lol. I'm not holding any grudges..

Staples is desperate and sinking, it is not worth working for them, those that do will just go down with the ship. What few lifeboats exist are reserved for the top.

Ron steered the ship into an iceberg, then he went down and looted the vault and even the silverware in the 1st class galley. Now he is safely on his luxury captain's launch, sailing to the coast while the ship he crashed lists to starboard as the bow begins to sink.

That's just want they want... the impossible task scenario....

Give them to many packages, in trucks that are not loaded correctly, and then expect them to go solicit business at nearby business.... so when they come up short in any aspect of the job they can be written up or have hours cut or be given different routes, and other various disciplinary tactics.

What they want is for everyone to be ultra sensitive about their jobs and keep them on the edge of dismissal through write-ups over things they can't control.

I know because I lived it. Not enough staff to provide basic service to customers, yet I got written up for things didn't get done while I ran around putting out fires constantly.

They've tried this before and failed miserably. The drivers want nothing to do with it, especially, since it messes with their metrics and then they get written up for it.

"They'll rely on the associated who are already over burdened to do it for them"

Canvassing and upgrade checks in store to promote cell phone sales while corp. did not invest a red cent into marketing.

As the population's needs changed and Staples wasn't able to adapt, one thing that has fast forwarded this company to it's demise is it's reluctance to do proper marketing and advertising. They'll rely on the associated who are already over burdened to do it for them. Now Staples blames it's demise on it's workforce and accepts no responsibility. This is one of the worse companies still hanging around.

Staples is all about churn now. Even if your SDO stays open they will drive more tenured people out and bring in new hires. They don't want experienced staff, they are vested for to many benefits.

Just look for a new job, this ship is sinking and the walls will come tumbling down. No retirement here. No reason to stay. You might be able to keep your job for a year or so, but it's the end result and it's arriving sooner than you think. Take your knowledge and go where you are appreciated and compensated for it.

They closed the SDO that served my store (for dot com orders). The contractor we have now doesn't speak English and is always screwing up orders, trying to leave the wrong item.

Why bother. You are out a job anyway. Company is falling apart .it's just a matter of time. Everyone knows this. It's no secret.

A couple months ago.. they say you could get incentive.. I am happy I still have a job.. but they threaten to close us last year.. I believe it's a matter of time.. that they go third party.. or turn us into sub contractors...

When did this start?

I kind of think this is BS, but then again, beggars can't be choosers.

I'm not trying to be judgemental , but you're lucky your SDO is still open and you have a job.

Do you get a finders fee or commission for any new customers?
