Thread regarding ITT Educational Services Inc. layoffs

Please run far from ITT they have ruined so many people's lives.

All ITT Tech Campuses need to close.Fraud business with a fake facade.

Anything in the local news in WI yet? Seems that with all these layoffs, there would be something. I keep trying to warn my coworkers, but they are not listening. Maybe if it was in the news they'd listen.

My last day as ITT faculty was yesterday. Liberation! I took a pay cut to work for a public school starting Aug 1. The good book says it's better to have 1 handful in peace, than 2 handfuls in discord.

Carnage here in WI--two campuses closed, the survivor goes to small school status. They got the MOR in the first round, almost all of the rep room in the second. They'll probably keep the two "master reps." Rest of us get a bit of severance and unemployment...I already have three interviews...

Maybe that sh--ty S3 software will work better with fewer people using it! ;)

Wow, ITT-Tech is getting more and more bizarre by the minute.

Here's job description, Student Support Coordinator, Online Division, Math Tutor:

"The Student Support Coordinator, Online Division, works as a Math tutor, and maintains contact and fosters motivation of students from the time of matriculation through graduation by utilizing school and community resources to provide superior customer service. This position also assists with student retention strategies. The Student Support Coordinator, Math Tutor position is located in Carmel, Indiana. It is not a remort position."

Question -- what is a remort position?

"Immediately upon student enrollment, welcomes students and their families to the OnlineProgram to establish rapport and determine what services are needed."

Question -- what does math tutoring have to do with fostering motivation, retention, and establishing student rapport? Why doesn't the job description say anything about actually tutoring in math?

"Bachelors degree in Mathematics is required.

Teaching/tutoring experience is preferred.

1 to 2 years collegiate experience in student affairs, customer service, counseling/advising preferred.

Proven strong oral and written communication skills required.

Computer literacy is required."

Question -- What's the starting pay? $15/hr?

That's even less than the $15/hr adjunct faculty get for tutoring.

Let's see, 140 campuses nationwide laying off a few recruiters at each campus. Several hundred laid off recruiters, replaced with a few dozen low paid telemarketers?

Please don't blame this pickle on Department of Education. Or the students. Or faculty. Find another job and get back your life, by working for a company that is not a greedy scam operation. You can do it.

Outbound call centers... does anybody even answer their phone anymore to scammers like ITT?
