Thread regarding McKesson Corp. layoffs

Tomorrow is the big day!

At 10:00 Pacific time, McKesson will anounce a layoff of all IT employees. Each group will be dismantled and shiped overseas to WiPro over the next few weeks. Only upper IT management will be spared.

Moreover, the new building is ready to become the headquarters of the company. It will replace One Post. Most of the employees from San Francisco location will not be offered the opportunity to transfer to Texas due to budget restrictions. A small executive suite will be maintained in the region for the Executives.

Did you get the briefing that Mission and Pine will move to One Post.

One Post is being sold and McK will lease space. Interesting information here.

Any other news out there in the field?

Mike Kelly was the worst leader I have ever had in years. That's why he is gone. His true colors were seen by Pharma. The A-- Hat went to Red Hat. Good riddance...

Here's your FUD:

"Golden Parachute"

McKesson Corp. said in March it would dismiss 1,600 workers in the U.S. and expects the departures will cost about $300 million, mostly in severance payments. Chief Executive Officer John Hammergren is staying put, which might be just as well for the drug distributor’s bottom line.

If Hammergren is terminated or leaves for good reason, he’ll be eligible for severance and benefits worth about $187 million. Put another way, his potential exit payment is roughly equal to the cost of cutting 1,000 of the company’s workers. He’s also eligible for medical benefits, access to an office, a secretary and financial counseling for the remainder of his life.

FUD would have little effect if full-timers still had trust in their executives.

I figured as such with the announcement of two VP's this week, being replaced with Texas based "directors" as of October 1st.

Notice the job title change. A California VP vs a Texas Director, salary probably drops 40-50%.

Just a matter of time now.
