Nursing Program relaunch fizzles at Illinois ITT-Tech campus

In Orland Park, Illinois, ITT-Tech's Associate Degree RN program enters its 3rd year of probation. The state nursing board has the power to revoke approval of the program.

Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation released its latest report yesterday. http://www.idfpr.com/Forms/DPR/NurseSchools.pdf

ITT-Tech's most recent pass rate, for nursing program graduates taking their licensing exam for the first time, is the lowest of all 45 associate degree programs listed in the report.

"If 2 years after implementing the strategies to correct deficiencies in the program the annual pass rate is less than 75%, the program will be reevaluated. The program will be allowed to continue to operate on a probationary status or will be disapproved and removed from the list of Illinois approved nursing programs in accordance with 68 Ill. Adm. Code 1110."

Orland Park's nursing program pass rates for the past 3 years are 61% (20123), 43% (2014), and 52% (2015). The campus website does not mention probation, so hopefully prospective students are checking the nursing board website!

ITT-Tech doesn't know how to educate! They don't know how to operate a college! Management bungles everything -- from their policies on admitting students, to how they treat faculty. They don't know how to educate students with different academic backgrounds, or write curriculum. On and on and on.

The only thing ITT-Tech does well is recruit. Somehow they have attracted enough students and faculty to stay in operation, all these years.

Our campus had really good nursing instructors (solid experience) & some really bad students--some could barely write a coherent sentence. About 3 nursing chairs were fired in a row due to a lack of "program success". Their firings got the students to begin writing like Shakespeare and 2 failing students then investigated the kinetics of hemostatic enzyme-antithrombin interactions in the presence of low molecular weight heparin.
