Thread regarding Williams Cos. layoffs

July/August Layoffs

Has anyone actually heard anything about the next round of layoffs? I'm sure there is another round coming but was wondering if anyone has heard anything about it. Not speculation something viable.

WIPRO is gathering up knowledge to take over several IT jobs. Recently gave up a 3 ring binder and it was all copied. Guess I am next. Thank you Brian L after all my dedication to my job!

You Friend, are a short sighted idiot! It's sad when you have to label your company as "one williams".

WPZ makes its money thanks to Transco, not Access. If you actually listen to Williams earnings call there were questions about Chesapeake going broke -- a problem Williams got from Access. One Williams is a good idea. Tulsa and H-town will be the winners.

I wish you people in Tulsa would shut the hell up about the OKC office. NOONE in OKC wants your damn job, and if you look at the earnings, WPZ is the part making the money. Who is WMB reinvesting dividends in? WPZ. We are supposed to be ONE company and maybe the larger problem is the fact that the Williams legacy people cant stand the fact that the Access people get stuff done, and do it with WAY LESS PEOPLE!!! Its time to come together as ONE company and if you can't do that, then maybe YOU need to go find another job!

Thanks for update, par for the course, nothing will change, except for forcing more people out that don't like. Very predictable no suprises.

Interesting from Alan Friday. Layoffs won't be at the same number as in March, big changes at the top, Alan says with other headcount cuts "cascading" whatever that means. No other real "bad" news for layoffs. Nothing said about OKC but Alan did say there would not be a lot of hiring to replace attrition. Maybe he's hoping a bunch of OKC people will just quit.

I have intimate knowledge of the lease agreements pertaining to the OKC offices. The process for OKC to disappear is well underway. Tulsa is 80 minutes up the turnpike and there's ample office space there.

Is this viable info? Or are you just blowing smoke?

There are so many rumors flying around, but nobody seems to have anything real. We all know it is sh#t right now but, a little real information would be good about now!

Ok, hope the limit it, there are all ready too many fired oil&flags people on the market. I also hope they a better job doing it than the last talent assement, the way that was handled was absolutely pathetic. Never seen anything like it,

They would of been better off putting everyone's name in a hat, it would of gave been fairer, cheaper, quicker and yes more cost effective.

Expect 5 to 10 percent across the board. OKC office shuttered by December. However many offices up there in PA and WV will be combined (amazing all the wasted money in keeping offices open). People who don't want to move (or aren't asked to) see ya'

Management is lucky to have hot summer weather and failure of merger, if not they would be in deep trouble. Better lucky than good, of course they will take credit for it, you count on that, maybe some of this luck will spill over to employees, hope so don't want to see more people looking for a job.

Yes they can "do that" . And by "they" I mean corporate management - with no one at the helm of a ship which is drastically listing side to side. "They" will try to convince otherwise but the truth of their most current corporate actions is scattered around for all to see.

They are management they can do anything, even call themselves leaders and do things that border on being illegal, that is why they have an army of lawyers protecting them. Just the join the crowd and accept it, it is the only way.

Can they do that?

I would not be surprised if there is virtually no inclination of advanced notice or severance, for that matter, on the next round. Time to break out the resume - the sooner the better.
