Thread regarding Zenith Education Group layoffs

What is our incentive to work hard? NO raises or promotions for Zenith employees, but our workload has quadrupled over the last 18 months.

I hope that none of you are expecting to get a raise this year. If by some miracle we're still open at the end of the year, there will be absolutely NO raises for employees. The powers that be at ECMC/Zenith want for everyone to work extra hard to make up for the hundreds of employees that they laid off, but you will NOT be compensated for all of this extra work. In some departments, there are 2-3 people taking on the workload that used to be shared by 12-15 people. Many employees are being unfairly compensated for their hard work. I understand that many of you are just working to pay your bills, but you must realize that you are being used by ECMC, Zenith, and the DOE. What would happen if everyone came together and demanded to be paid better? There were no raises for 2 years, then last year they gave employees a tiny raise just to quell the fire. You deserve more than this company is giving you. Dave Hawn and the board of directors know what is in store for this company. They are not trying to grow Everest or WyoTech, they are trying to slowly shut both schools down. Those of you who have been here for over 4 years have been through a lot with this company. You should at least be fairly compensated for your hard work on this sinking ship.

Why doesn't everyone "come together" and quit that b--ch a-- company instead?

I've thought about this post alot for the last few days. I've decided it's time to move on, not because we may not get raises, but you're right, there is little motivation. I don't want to work with people anymore who lack motivation or the drive to do little more than wait for a layoff. The only layoff has been more work, less folks to do it, and lots of backbiting bullshit. Time for me to move on before I invest more of my life in something that's not going to invest in me. Good luck to all.

OP: There is no longer any positive external motivation to work hard. Three choices: 1. work hard because you think it is the right thing to do. 2. Just show up and put in your time, waiting till the next layoff. 3. Quit. It is a miserable, no win scenario. Very sad.....

Just take solace in the fact that all of the leadership team members at Zenith that are making these decisions are making well over $200,000 per year and their workload is becoming less and less with each school closure. Feel better now that you know who is truly carrying the true workload?

OP, we know you are right. We also know there are a handful of employees seeking outside legal counsel, for a variety of reasons, including what you've stated.

Try being there for 15 years and then being called into the office and told you are no longer needed along with 40 of your fellow workers. Screw Zenith Education, ECMC, the DOE and Dave Hawn. I can't wait for the day the whole f#*&ing place shuts down.

I'm one of those people doing that work of many. I've been around for awhile too. It's kind of hard to demand raises when people around us are losing their jobs just so we can continue to have one. We all have the option to look for another. I don't come to work every day focused on a raise that is unreasonable to expect, but I don't expect others around me to feel the same. We are still here because we're supporting each other on my team. Money won't make our workloads any easier to swallow.
