Thread regarding Williams Cos. layoffs

Talking about the surplus of managers and bosses, this morning, on average could be cut in half and the average company would be better. Get angry about a bloated management. Reminds me of Williams, exactly.

Managers and up go home to check Facebook and read stuff of the web. Employees just do it at their desks, when they aren't riding around all over in company vehicles "because they are critical" to operations.

It has been noticed and quite frankly expected, as well as "accepted" by many, as if it is some sort of phantom perk bestowed upon and only to be utilized by management. At what point do these company managers feel as though they have "crossed" the line of any of the Williams CODE OF ETHICS as it applies to all others? You would think that the yearly mandated and required Williams corporate "CODE OF ETHICS COMPLIANCE" CBT applied to everyone - even our fearless managerial leaders - both low and high.

Anybody else notice how a number of managers (before the layoffs at least) would randomly split halfway throughou the work day on a routine basis through out the work week? Nothing on their calendar scheduled and yet feel free and clear to slid out the door unannounced.

They will hit the random employees first, and few managers for show. The board tried to clean out management and failed and resigned. Management will never self purge itself, this company could be top heavy for 30 more years, as long as they make money nobody would care.

here in SLC, employees were told there would be no raises this year (they had been postponed due to merger). No formal announcement, just managers telling their people. I def agree we could do without so many managers and above. But there are still random employees just sitting around waiting for the day to end...cut another 700 across the US and see what happens

Everything from clarity, accurate information, teamwork AND savings would be improved. It also opens up avenues for others by getting some well deserved credit and affirmation for what they have already been going and also a potential to shine by assisting with other opportunities.

The oil and gas industry corporate leaders that have addressed this antiquated style of bloated management, instead of just talking about their over surplus of highly compensated and bulky numbers of directors, managers and bosses saturated within their organizations, have begun to rapidly realize and be noticed (by peers within the industry) for the sheer logic of this singularly (simplistic) economic, effective and successfully efficient step forward, in order to excel in the highly competitive word of oil and gas efficiency and the practicality of today's worldwide oil and gas competitive markets. More layers of management (especially overlapping management) does not mean "more effective management" . The "more is better" management style has also been proven to be neither useful or in line within today's strategically effective financial and timely organizations. I hope Williams takes note of the necessity of adapting for three reasons - recovery, success and successful longevity. It is what is is. Due the numbers - or just duck your head in the sand. Seriously - due the math.
