Shell Warns Of Further Job Cuts - posted by OilPrice 5th July 2016

The shortsightedness of these current Shell mgrs only proves those that don't remember/know the past are doomed to repeat it; having lived thru Shell's mid-80's gut and dearth of talent that followed for the next 20 years, I was hopeful; if this article and others prove true, I can only conclude Shell-kind cannot learn from their mistakes. Pipeline of talent? No, don't hire, we're saving money; Retain important talent? nope, too expensive, dump 'em. Jeez...same as it ever was....same as it ever was......

The revelation when working in an international company: Brits hate Yanks (Americans), they will be so polite to your face but when you're not in the room, or when they don't remember you are, you'll hear how they really think of you regardless of your skills/abilities. Bailed their asses out of the 2nd World War and they still think they're better....Mr Robertson, you MF.

What company is bigger than Shell? Google?

Look I see your point of view and maybe in the business unit you were in that was true. I saw from the outside many business units that probably were as you described and for that I'm sorry you had to deal with it.

My experience was much the opposite. Sometimes business just slows down and we get sent away. Maybe in your case you were treated unfairly and dirty and I can believe that, all big organizations have that potential. Maybe you should call out the group and not the company as a whole.

I'm glad you found another job though and are happier.

F--- Shell, happy i'm out of that sh-- hole. It is full of a--holes and backstabbing individuals. It seem that the world's a--holes has been gathered up at Shell to show them how to be better a--holes. Be clear folks, if you survive at shell, you are either Blonde or a manipulator or looked up after by big brother that is a VP,GM,TEAM LEAD, Discipline Advisor or alternatively you are already a good a--hole and know how to screw others and s--- up to people with power. That is Shell and will be always that way....PS: I work else where for 1/2 the stress and same salary at a bigger company, that is much better managed! beleive me folks there is life out of that circus.

There's always an idiot(s) who, rather than engaging in an adult discussion, reverts to early adolescence. Not funny, not intelligent; if you're working for Shell now, hope you're canned in this latest round. Loser....

All you make is 6 figures? You'd probably take it in the brown eyed starfish for what I made.

But. No one can do anything. Everyone needs their jobs. So we suck c...k. And sometimes that works. But mostly we just "settle" for that fat 6 figure salary that almost anyone else outside shell would happily switch places for. When you think about it it's a only about 5 c..ks worth sucking per year - 20 years that s about 100. Come on. Suck it up! It's worth that car/house/boat/ etcetc

"Enhanced business efficiency"!? "Eliminate/Simplify/Standardize/Automate (ESSA)!?! "Aligning our operations into a rational and logical mosaic"!? Come up with one BS mantra line at the senior Mgmt level and it buys you the time you need to bail out wealthy; minions can only smile, nod and start chanting. Challenge, ask questions, push back, accept blow-back, blah, blah (new mantra). Sucking up is a miserable way to live one's best years.

Van Beurden is a f---ing mastermind. All of you people complaining have no clue. This guy has figured out his bonuses for the next 5 years and has made his deals long into the future, what have you done?

Are you really tired of corporate tripe? Excerpt from the cited article follows; don't these guys ever get winded by blowing so much hot air? So elequoent. "Elaborating on what this drive would imply, Van Beurden noted jobs are becoming unnecessary as business operations get shut down, or positions being moved to another part of the world, or becoming redundant because of the drive for enhanced business efficiency." This crap explanation has been repeated for decades, but worth millions for some who quote it, even today. Only trivia missing is "lean and mean".
