Thread regarding ITT Educational Services Inc. layoffs

New SEC filing this morning. ACICS decides to punt and wait on ED to make decision. http://app.quotemedia.com/data/downloadFiling?webmasterId=10

ACICS has decided to extend the show cause status until the December meeting rather than taking action. Guess they couldn't actually find any violations of their standards that would be sufficient to suspend ITT for. So now the state of limbo continues for at least the rest of the year.

Orland park nursing program on teach out

--- The nursing faculty (which is required to be full time), must feel pretty solid about their future at the school. Are they getting a big bonus to stay around to the end?

"There's a chance that a monkey with a typewriter will type out Hamlet."

If the monkey is managed by Modany then even that small chance becomes zero. ;)

ITT Tech is a nightmare. Students are ripped off. Taxpayers are ripped off.

ACICS is not equipped to do its job. Department of Ed is slow.

Time to end this nightmare at the local level.

Students, faculty, recruiters, management just need to say NO to fall quarter. It's okay to quit at end of summer quarter! Even time enough left for 2 weeks notice! Do it now!

There's a chance ITT-Tech will turn around and become a real college.

There's a chance ACICS will transform.

There's a chance that a monkey with a typewriter will type out Hamlet.

My bet is on the monkey.

"With enough focus on transformational improvements, the school still has a chance of a turn around, if leadership gets behind it with real dialog & effort."

This statements says nothing that has any bearing on ITT-Tech's current situation or history of past few years. Anything has a chance of transforming into something else. So what?

All cars sold in the USA must comply with various state and federal regulations. That does not mean some models are not real lemons. Remember the YUGO? They were probably complying with everything too.

ACICS accreditation standards and review of compliance of those standards are not designed to protect students or tax payers from title lV fraud. Furthermore, in schools that take advantage of weak Board of Nursing rules ACICS turns a blind eye as the Nursing Profession and patient outcomes stumble to declining standards in favor of profits.

"We are pleased to provide ACICS with additional information in its review of our current accreditation status," ITT spokeswoman Nicole Elam told IBJ (Indiana Business Journal) in an email. "None of the matters cited and pending in the show-cause directive have resulted in any findings of fact by a court of law -- which we emphasized in our August hearing with the accreditor."

Hmmm, Nicole sounds really defensive now! But seems a pretty poor defense for operating an educational institute that targets vulnerable adults -- that ITT-Tech has not yet been proven guilty of fraud, predatory lending, etc, in the multiple lawsuits still winding their way through the justice system.

This is far cry from earlier ITT-Tech bragging about complete compliance with all ACICS regulations. ITT-Tech was hoping the show-cause would be "vacated," but instead it has been continued.
