Haha. I like the post by the responder who stayed Indians take off the fourth quarter. I have seen the same thing in the factory. Like a mini-sabbatical, but they get away with it year after year. Stupid management.

Let's see VR, foundry and memory those business require a 30-40% headcount cut to be competitive.

Server and business as usual x86 to 200 million figure about 15-20% cut.

Lots of cuts in 2017 and 2018 LOL

Cisco's better days are behind them. Similar to Intel.

Actually the Oct-Dec time frame is a good time to interview: Hiring managers often have a bit more time, many candidates don't engage thinking, "I'll start in the New Year"

Interesting that the unemployment specialist has "inside info" to more layoffs. Maybe she reads the rumors on this site for her info. It's certainly not the Oregonian as we lost our mole. lol

As for considering relocating, and what is going on.... I don't mean to sound rude but have you had your head stuck in the sand? There have been many many convos about the lack of jobs in Hillsboro area for jobs that are Intel specific experience. So, with no, to not many jobs here, and the amount of people all trying to get them, smart people will move where the jobs are. Moving creates a glut of homes hitting the market which lowers the price. That'll help stop today's crazy Seller's market.

I mentioned in another post about a convo I had with someone from HR when she found out I was hoping to buy a new home and sell my home. Her advice was to hurry up and get my house on the market as the layoffs were going to create a bad scenario real estate-wise here in the area.

Hardware Engineer here also, Oregon, took VSP. I have sent out over 30 resumes..and so far..NADA. I had a meeting with the unemployment specialist and she said more layoffs are coming and to consider re-locating (selling the house while I can). What is going on?

Housing prices need to get crushed in the Bay Area @gkx. They have rocketed up beyond ridiculous. Time for a correction. It's gonna be ugly.

So I'm a hardware guy...took VSP. Every day I run 4 mi then jump in the pool, play with the dogs, then make breakfast, read the papers...but with this layoff announcement @ Cisco, I need to step up the job search as a) there will be a lot of competition now, and b) if I haven't found anything by end of October, folks go into holiday mode and nothing happens until January.
