I'm frustrated that I have been blocked several times from working on this project. It appears that Aicha is trying to segregate teams maybe in anticipation of future site closures and layoffs. Anyone know any better?

Your glass is half empty.
It's clear the management are trying to contain any future fallout from closing the remaining sites in Europe next year
Guys please do not disclose any company information here. I am out of Intel .But still i respect the papers NDA's we sign.
To be honest i can see this page is like Intranet of a company.
I'm not disrespecting the work done in MRD. Intel needs engineers to support the customer and optimize the architecture. But this is not the same as architecting a solution from scratch with intimate knowledge of the standards.
Intel needs 5G to be successful.
@rtp: you should not look down on modem R&D. World-class experts in NGS? Do not flatter yourself.
There are so many shoes that are on the verge of dropping...
OP - Be prepared to switch groups or get laid off.
@rtp : Without Modem R&D you have no product to make money and pay for NGS. Not only producting but also being competitive is the key point which require smartest engineers working on it. Got it?
Rtp is so naive...
There are two divisions working on modems: next generation systems (NGS) and modem R&D (MRD).
Clearly the NGS group has all the standardization and world class experts in it. These people architect the next generation (name gives it away)! The best and the brightest from silicon valley are in this group forging Intel's future technology.
MRD is the work horse. Optimizing old technology. Developing incremental features. Fixing bugs and analyzing tickets. Clearly this work doesn't need to be done in high cost geo regions.
OP I can't believe you don't understand this already!
Therefore you cannot work smartly
I think you said it, the will be sold of soon.... ;-)
