You do know why Kaby and Coffee are coming on 14nm don't you? If TMG had been able to deliver 10nm on time with good yields you'd have Canon and Icelake. Think about that for a moment, instead of 10nm with more cores that result in far larger die burning more power you could possible have 4 and 6 core on a shrunk 10nm process that if delivered as promised be 1/2 the size of their 14nm products, run faster, cooler and use less power, but since 10nm is late intel had no choice but try and tape out new products on 14nm. These die will be far bigger than similar die on 10nm, burn more power, and be more expensive. Since they are bigger Intel can't make as many as 14nm capacity is already set and frozen, but again Intel should worry as PC sails and demand are dropping so fast that by the time Coffee comes total volume need/demand will be 10-15% lower than today.
You are correct it is tick tock tick tock on 14nm and the fact there is another cycle means time has run out on intel and moore.
