FMC is ripe for a class action based on age discrimination. I hope to see it soon - by the way I am under age 40 but I'm disgusted by what I'm witnessing.

Now we understand. Old experienced employees are not able to be retrained to the new system or way of doing things so in order to deal with that issue you fire them in bring in new people. You must have got a MBA from a university in Mexico City.

perhaps with all the new reorganizational charts and technological improvements via the new computer system and focused engineering upgrades within the last few months, the old supervisors might not be able to grasp how all the improvements and efficiency need to be run

Here's the answer. Erie is not managed by an American it is dictated by a Mexican. Basic human rights, fairness, morals and ethical behavior don't apply to that country.

So to summarize the situation, Erie lays off most of their Production Supervision last December. Good supervisors in their mid 50's, dedicated employees with 10 plus years experience and an excellent understanding of the factory and operations and then turns around 8 months later and post an add for a Production Supervisor without the opportunity for the ones let go to ever get their jobs back. What kind of company with any morals or ethics would do something like that. You would think that there would be some kind of laws in place to prevent honest hard working individuals from being treated that way by any decent American company.

they certainly wouldn't want to rehire someone they already let go, as that person would be much more product and process knowledgeable than the existing people in charge and that just doesn't work when the rookie boss comes up with a not so good idea that the seasoned laid off veteran has already tried and fully understands the full consequences and results of the rehashed project

They are hiring a Product Manager, Production Supervisor and Master Scheduler in Erie. Guess the people the let go from those jobs were eliminated for some reason or other ????

You guys don't learn lesson from last year. Layoffs happen close to the last quarter months in FMC. Most likely, it will be either at the end of August or beginning of September. Better prepare your resume and start applications instead of spending time here...
