Falling HDD Era !

The prediction is that HDD in all portables will reach EOL this year; HDD life in all PCs will end by next year. Well, HDD as main stream in data centers or clouds could survive a little bit longer, let's guess, say three years or sooner!

So for the folks still working in HDD industry, it 's good time now to get prepared and plan ahead accordingly if you have a family to support !

Good luck to all of you !

My 2 cents: I believe PC market could last a few years longer, depending on how fast 3D NAND dominates. WD appearantly did a better job on adopting SSD than the other guy. Cheers.

Planning time was years ago. The "flood" could have ended it but WD people did astonishing things to keep things going. WD has/had great people.

Name a tech company that has driven/happy/content people right now. Sales are down big, companies downsizing/merging, technology maturing in many areas. The HDD shift to SSD is just part of it.

Who the heck needs/wants a laptop now anyway? Everyone probably has 3 already.
