Intel in Apple's death coils

Apple lured it's prey in with the promise of a gold stamp. If Apple uses you as a supplier other customers will blindly follow - our that's what Aicha told us. So Intel offered Apple an alternative modem at loss leader prices. Now the only game in town for Slim modems is Apple there is no other addressable market for Intel. How does Intel get itself out of this expensive contra revenue trap - answer: it's impossible with the current management.

Ha ha, there was PLENTY of "silicon learning" for Sofia and other roadmap planned Intel based LTE modems (yes there are CPUs in a modem). And Intel failed miserably trying to put Atom core in Slim modem and Sofia. Atom s---ed running Android as Application Processor. Get educated people!

Intel Big Core so cocky never understood the requirements of a wireless modem, Intel Chip did not have the infrastructure to local memory and hw accelerators, low power, low complexity, no processor tracing tools to succeed in making a world class low latency embedded processor. And ARM wins again!!

Wonder what CPU will be used for commercial grade 5G modem???? Intel will fail here again.

AIcha was warned early, but did not listen.

Most companies would make it up on volume. [grim joke]

At Intel, we say instead, "It'll be profitable on the next process generation."

When someone desperate offers you something that improves your profit with nothing to lose, you take it. You think Intel priced for profit or priced at any cost to win, just like they gave away tablets, they had to win something to validate themselves. Sadly the design was done by an external team, the manufacturing is in someone else's silicon with other's IP, beyond intel booking revenue with huge costs associated they did nothing here. They didn't get any silicon learning, they didn't get any design learning. They are just going to be another supplier squeezed by Apple, next time around Apple will bid again to all the modem providers and pick the lowest cost producer,

For most apple winners, winning Apple enables you to launch and amortize products and R&D, but you make little money, its the fact you get IP build, silicon debuged factories paid off/depreciated then you get other business to make the money. In this case NONE of that applies as Intel was nothing but a middle man, think a used car salesman selling at a loss.

Makes for some great PR, till you dig deeper, what process learning, what IP learning, what design learning, how does it help the next generation, NOTHING

I think Cook realized how desperate BK goons are to show something, so he took advantage of them.
