"Who is Murphy"? I'm guessing it's Jim Murphy, who was President of WD while HGST and WD were operating separately.
When the Chinese government allowed the two companies to merge, HGST's Cordano became President of the combined companies. Mr. Murphy was then given a new job.
Murphy became famous within WD when, earlier in his career, it is said he significantly boosted WD sales overseas.
If Murphy is leaving, he is not the only high-profile WD executive to leave. Joe Viglione - a senior VP in Asia - appears to have left, too.
