What do you think about the new culture of care? I have been with the company almost three years and here is what I think. I think It is being done to keep us from leaving so that the company can make you leave on their terms. They can't give real pay raises or promotions and they can't have an exodus of workers......So they tell us and train us how to tell each other how much they care about us. It's kind of like being fake nice to your wife to keep her from divorcing you, while knowing that you need her to cook and clean and work to make money for you over the next year while you plan your getaway. It is interesting to note that the same company that oversees our culture change did the same thing for Corinthian right before that company imploded...... Look it up.

Wow that's pretty cold. Do they make you still sign something saying you won't talk bad about them publicly?
They care? No, not at all. For all the people who were laid off 7/8/2016 you will lose your health insurance coverage that day. Typically companies extend coverage to the end of the month but as HR says, they do things differently than most companies.
The phrase "DeVry Cares" is about as sincere as "Student Centric Scheduling". Both sound good but neither appears to have much truth to it. My coworkers and I still care very much about each other and our students, but none of us believe that DeVry cares about anything at all other than promoting the illusion that it's still a viable company. All efforts lately have gone into building up the facade while gradually disassembling the university at the same tine. That's not care, it's deception, and it makes us all wonder what is really going on.
DeVry cares? Great question. I guess they do. DeVry cares about money, DeVry cares about looking profitable to Wall Street, and DeVry leadership cares about protecting their highly compensated positions.
DeVry used to care about the right things. This included the students, the employees, the quality of education and being an organization that people would be proud to work for.
Over the last 10 years DeVry fell out of touch with what made them great and became more concerned with profiting on the backs of federally funded underprepared students who had little opportunity to find academic success in college. I would love to see the true graduation rates for DeVry (not the make believe numbers that this company likes to spin out to the public). Now the new strategy appears to be global diversification. I guess after ripping off tens of thousands US students and pocketing billions of U.S. Student federal aid, DeVry wants to rip off new
Please take this from someone who dedicated nearly 20 years to DeVry as a highly productive employee and then unceremoniously 'cared for' by being shown the door in one of the many layoffs within the last year.
Disgraceful and embarrassing what has happened to this organization.
They do not care but if you have to be live that to sleep at night I understand
My opinion to the initial post is positive. It can't hurt. At least as staff and faculty, we can continue to foster an environment where their is mutual respect...Whether or not DeVry is promoting this culture, it shouldn't matter...in my eyes it a positive thing...as little as it may seem. I'd rather continue to work in a place where we are "trained" to "care" than not. Many employers are in the same boat...can't offer raises (whether because of greediness or just the fact that it does not help the "bottom line"), it's just something we at DeVry should accept for now...and perhaps for as long as we are employed through them...at least in my case, I'm thankful I have a job for right now...and that I will continue to look elsewhere as it pertains to my future. I see it as a part of life. I pray that I will be able to have a better job soon. I care for my colleagues and our students at this point. DeVry is just reinforcing something I already do...and it can't hurt. Just my thoughts and feelings -from a current colleague.
